Lost track of time last night studying plus I was beat. Nice obscure Roulette promo.

The Escorts -Come On Home Baby

So I was in my office listening to the Byrds today and it occurred to me that I have neglected the Byrds, the Kinks, The Who, and I listen to them all the time. I will have to recitify that but for now here is an obscure british invasion 45.

Bobby Pedrick - Maybe

A little Wednesday soul to soothe the well, soul. Hope to get my car back tomorrow and put my wife's car in the shop at the same time. Maybe I'll get serious about buying a new car in a few weeks. May have to start selling some of my records to fund the ordeal.

Coleman M. Wilson - Radar Blues Pt. 1 and 2

Picked up some cool 45s today. My record buying will probably decrease a whole bunch as my car is in the shop and I need a new one. I really don't want the payments but I have put 200,000 on my honda and it is time to retire it as a full time ride. I think I'm going to by a new truck as if I can afford it. Since I have the vehicle blues, I thought this might be appropriate.  Sorry about the sound, I cleaned it up a much as I could.

Uniques - Not Too Long Ago

I had a whole week of 5X5 releases on Paula records. I had planned on going another direction tonight but I am tired and a bit stressed so I am going for a quickie tonight. The Uniques were unique. They started out more garage and became very soulful. Joe Stampley was the singer and after he left the group became a huge country star. Go figure

A Handful -Dying Daffodil Incident

Changed the layout of Sonic Paraphernalia so it would not freeze upon opening. Here is a quick one as I need to get back to reading for class.
Cool 45 on Hazelwood's label

Five By Five - Too Much Tomorrow, 15 Going on 20, Penthouse Pauper

A friday night triple play. I'm going to include the B side of single #6 as it is also sooo goood. Single #7 was typical for Five By Five, with both sides of the 45 being excellent.

Five By Five Apple Cider & Fruitstand Man

Single #5 is probably their most well known and in demand 45. Most definately a double sided scorcher. Apple Cider bubbled under the Billboard Top 100

Five By Five - Fire & Hang Up

There are plenty of details on a few other blogs but suffice it to say that Single #3, and their timely cover of Jimi Hendrix's Fire was at the right time. This was their sole Top 100 charting. The B side is probably the star of this 45 however.

Five By Five - Shake A Tail Feather

Five By Five in my opinion were a very under rated band. They put out 8 fantastic 45s and one LP on the Paula label.  I plan a tribute week for them starting with their first 45.

Scoundrels - La Bola

School starts again on Saturday and I'm taking a break from my required readings. Never was sure how to catergorize this song but I love it. And Bo Gentry was involved producing it.

I think somebody was listening to the Beatles when this was written. I can't believe this wasn't a monster hit.

Tommy James & The Shondells - Baby Let Me Down

I have always loved TJ's & Shondells music. Can't understand why they are not in the RRHOF but I ranted on the whole HOF thing before. This is a cool French EP I picked up a few years ago. Cordell & Gentry were brilliant songwriters and producers and this EP demonstrates the powerful effect they had on TJ's music. I am not sure why this EP lists only Cordell as the songwriter for these 4 songs as I believe Gentry was involved as well. Anyway, Baby Let Me Down is a cool LP cut off the I Think We're Alone Now that made this French EP

Howard Tate Ain't Nobody Home

I once spent a crap load and I mean a crap load of money at an auction to purchase 6 boxes of musty, moldy albums just for a perfect copy of Howard Tate's verve album. I pretty much tossed 95% of the lps.
I have spent the day working on my 2nd blog. All the scanning of 45s and sleeves made me realize I need to share the indie wealth as well. Today (if all goes well) is the debut of the new site. I've titled it Sonic Paraphernalia....check it out.

Clique Splash 1

With all the recording of 45s to my computer over the past week I have come to the conclusion that I will be able to have quite a few cover version weeks in the future. But for now, we end the first cover version week with Clique's version of the Thirteenth Floor Elevators classic
