The weekend was brutally short. I was trying to find similar words to describe work last week but why get fancy...it was brutal and exhausting. I took tomorrow off and of course have the 4th off so I hope things settle down a bit and I can relax. No surf ready so how about Frankie Lymons brother...killer late 50's
It's been a few weeks since I have not had an artist related theme. There have been other artists that have died over the past few weeks and there is no way I could do tributes to them like I have done for Brian and Lou. I also don't have any gospel ready. I have tons of new pickups but have had no time to record them. Best I can do is this one with Heaven in the title. I was completely suprised that I have only featured Donovan once and that was 14 years ago...what a travesty. I have featured more cover versions of Donovan than his rendention of his own songs. As a matter of fact, I thought I had one of his other songs featured so I will be fixing that over the next year
I had planned on ending the week with another Lou Columbia side but as I was listening to it this morning I somehow recorded it twice on the same MP3 so I will have to re-record it at some point for the future. As I recorded more Lou songs than there are days in the week, here is a back up
I uploaded a song from Lou's does Detroit..but obviously Lou did Motown way before that LP. This was from 1971 and I have seen reference for a stock copy but I have only ever seen promos. Matter of fact I have few of his Buddah 45s as they are not easy to find
Album spotlight. I always loved this song from the Lightnin Strikes LP. Last year about the time I won the Have I Sinned acetate, the same seller had an acetate of this song. I missed out on winning it. This post would have been sooo much cooler with that acetate!
Nice doublesided 45 that went nowhere. Much like Brian Wilson last week, I recorded way too many Lou Christie songs for this week. But that is A OK by me

Another tribute week as we lost Lou last week. As I have collected Lou, I always thought Have I Sinned was an odd choice by Colpix for a 45 release. Of course it was unsuccessful. But what I found even odder, is this MGM Acetate I picked up for Have I Sinned- If MGM was considering releasing this as a 45 either before or after Lightning Stikes they obviously changed their minds. I had a soulful Beach Boys song planned but it will have to wait. So instead, we will do a non Beach Boys Brian Wilson song that Brian later reworked into Darlin
A few years ago I was in this antique mall as this person had contacted me that he had a ton of promo 45s. That turned out to be a dead end as they were all country, bluegrass and square dancing 45s. He had some lp's also and as an afterhought I went through them...the same...but I did see this one. What an interesting concept I thought so I bought it for a few bucks. I think it works.
I picked up about 3000 45s for free during my lunch time. I was told there were a few but when I got there I was given boxes and boxes and boxes of 45s. Loaded up my pickup and off I went to unload them to get back to work. Came from that closed 2008 record store and they had them stored in a shed. Looks like alot of NOS 45s from the 80's and 90s, and juke box 45s. Tons of the same title but not much 60's music unfortunately.

Ha, so apparently my ad program has been suspended for 30 days because...get this...I clicked on the ads which is a violation. Now, to be fair...it is kind of hard not to click on them when I am checking to make sure my mp3 link is working as they were in the damn way. They acted like I clicked on them constantly. I had apparently earned around .70 and they only pay out at $100 so at the rate it was going it would take years to pay for this year anyway. So, I'm 100% sure they can go pound sand..hey, maybe telling them to go pound sand is a violation also....lol. The ads won't appear in 30 days as I cancelled it. I guess I will just fund the blog.
I recorded some Brian Wilson related songs this week- way too many for a week so I will be sprinkling Brian into the blog for sometime. Capitol put these 2 songs from Surfin USA on the this compilation....interesting choices to be Surfing's Greatest Hits but they obviously couldn't poach from non Capitol artists now could they
