The Tygers- Can't Believe

I finished painting nearly 3/4 of the living room last night. I figure I will finish 3 of the walls tonight and will just need to do the wall with the fire place this weekend. Need to start on the kitchen and figure that will be Friday night. If painting was my main job I would starve.

I have a ton of soul 45s recorded awaiting a post. I teased a biggie for last week and then forgot about it...so it will appear tomorrrow...promise. I did dig out this sunshine pop 45 I recorded a few months ago..picked it up earlier this year

Debbie Dovale - Hey Lover

Painting was slow last night...I had to run to Lowes to pick up some more of the special rollers for the Wagner Paint Stick (bought the wrong ones last weekend). I am hoping I can get down to business the next 3 nights...I sure don't want to spend the weekend painting but I am under the gun

You know how I love that early girl group sound. I was rooting around in my sleeve box and found this early Roulette sleeve. Probably too early for this 45 but I thought it looked cool anyway

Buddy & The Hearts - Let It Rock/30 Days

I had planned on painting after work last night but I was so exhausted...it is so darned hot right now. No walk this morning due to thunder storm so I slept in. I should be rested up to paint tonight. Killer cover 45 of Chuck Berry songs

Jan & Dean - There's A Girl / My Heart Strings

I didn't get as much painting completed yesterday as I wanted as I had to repair one plaster wall. Guess that is the price to pay for a 125 year old farm house. Looks like I will be finishing up in the evenings this week as they new floors are installed in 7 days. No recording 45's this weekend so maybe next week. Good thing I have some in the bag. This 45 came from a collection I bought 15+ years ago. Jim apparently worked at a local radio station and I bought the collection from his son. Jim covered the promo label nicely.

Once I get the house back in order I plan to revisit some past posts and update with soundz...lets call it a refinishing project so if you have any requests for past posts that no longer are there make a comment

Evang. Scott's Washington Singers- Good Time / I'm Determined

Before I painted yesterday, I went to a couple of estate sales. The first one had a picture of some records and there was a pretty good LP shown. I had to wait in line to get into the estate sale, but I felt good about my chances as I judged the people ahead of me were not the record collecting kind (and I was right). Snagged the LP and 5 45's for a buck a piece. The 2nd one I bought 2 sealed lp's for a buck a piece at the house then they also were selling out of a storage facility and the person that owned that house had most of the units. There were supposed to be 45's in one of them the lady told me but she could not remember which one and I searched and searched to no avail as those units were packed full of furniture and other junk. I may go back today after I continue painting.

I picked this up a few weeks ago in a trade. Very obscure NY Gospel label- no information on this one but I suspect it is from 1961-1963.

Gary Walker - You Don't Love Me

I finished the living room ceiling yesterday and today involves the hallway and kitchen ceilings. I will need to go to Lowe's first to get the paint for the walls. But first I need to go to the city reyclable center to unload the enteratainment center. I have have had it for 35 years and I will be glad to have a more modern space saving unit for my living room stereo system. How many of you out there have more than one unit? I have one for the living room, one for the man cave and one for my home office. I think the new turnbable I picked up will end up in the living room.

Today I present Gary Walker from the Walker Brothers fame. I picked this up a few weeks ago in a trade

Ernest Van Treose and The Mc Daniel Mary Street Band - Popcorn Push Push / Medicine Man

Have the day off so I am going to do some work around the house this morning. It is a day for Funk

Lyme & Cybelle- If You Gotta Go, Go Now

Glad the week is winding down. I have a ton to get completed today if I want to take the full day off tomorrow. Very early Warren Zevon...I bought a 45 on ebay a few months ago and the seller threw this NM 45 in for free...how freakin cool is that!

Def Leppard - Bringin On The Heartbreak

It seems like this summer a week does not go by where we don't have a notable musician death. I didn't watch the Black Sabbath final show but saw some clips...so Ozzy's death yesterday was not a shock. I was not really an Ozzy fan but I do appreciate some of the early Black Sabbath albums. I doubt I will upload any Ozzy but I do have this metal classic ready..kind of fitting in away

Dreamlovers - If I Should Lose You / I Miss You

I have a busy 2 weeks ahead of me with some work tasks and then having floors put in. I need to organize my work office as I will need to bring Cooper upstairs with me due to the noise level I expect will happen. Cooper will not be happy with the change in his routine.

I had started organizing my company sleeves months ago in these small plastic tubs I bought at Walmart but have a ways to go. I knew I had an END sleeve and the search took me awhile but I stumbled into one. I really need to take all these one off obscure sleeves like these and put them in one plastic box

The Si-Dells - Watch Out Mother/She's The Only Girl For Me

I picked up this cool NC garage 45 yesterday that I did not know about. I thought the B side was the best so I recorded it first. I have so much to still learn about obscure 45s so that fuels my hunt

Mattie Moultrie - That's How Strong My Love Is / The Saddest Story Ever Told

I had a busy day yesterday. It was brutally hot so I am glad I mowed early. Didn't get to any painting prep so I think I will take next Friday off work to do what I need to do. We have quite a bit of house remodeling we are going to do and I am so looking forward to what the final product will look like. That's what you get with a 125 year old farmhouse-upgrades. I recorded some 45s yesterday but didn't get any gospel ready. I did record this one and there is a soulful gospel feel- That's How Strong is one of those timeless soul songs no matter who does it...oh, and I was able to use Roxio for some reason.

The Chessmen - See The Little Girl/Looking For A Good Love

I hope to try some more recording today but I do have a busy agenda. I have mowing the lawn, take some trash to the dump, preparing the living room for painting the ceiling and walls as we are having new floors put in so I need to do it now, getting a quote on cabinets

This was in the buy from a year ago April. I had set it aside in a box and rediscovered it a few weeks ago

Kenny Smith- Go For Yourself/My Day Is Coming

Happy Friday...ok, this one is a bit rough and no amount of humminguru is going to fix the sound but it is Killer none the less. I should do a week of RCA 45s..I picked up a RCA Northern Soul banger a few weeks ago that will be featured next week...ooh, I'm a teaser...lol

April March - Chick Habit / Laisse Tomber Les Filles

Yesterdays post seemed to have a lot of hits and I am not sure why...but pleased. I actually had a different 45 in mind for yesterday but realized I did not have a picture of the front of the picture sleeve in my folder. I figured I will just go to my phone and upload it but...all my pictures on my phone except for the past few weeks worth are gone and not on my phone. This includes pictures going back years including Bently and Cooper. I think I have saved most of their pictures on my computer but still it was a shock. I have no clue what happened. I looked into some recovery programs but they did not locate anything so I have no clue when they disappeared or quite frankly how it happened.

With the popularity of yesterdays post I thought I would celebrate with a banger. I have written how I used to buy everything SFTRI in my younger days. Overtime I have sold quite a bit of it and that included this one. But I really was not happy with that decision and earlier this year I was able to require a copy of this.

Ariel - Come On Down To My Boat

Powerpopish cover version

Freddie V and the Playmates - I Can Tell

I am loving my new receiver with the bluetooth so I can listen to my MP3's on the computer. While doing that yesterday I discovered that most of the 45's I recorded this weekend did not come out. I noticed when I recorded some on Saturday when I switched to Audicity that it was frequently going into the red as I recorded..those came out fine. On Sunday, they were barely going to the middle and no where near the red..those came out so low you can barely hear them. I may need to just go back to my old Technics turntable and move this one downstairs to the living room.

I picked this one up a few years ago.  This label seems to be very obscure..45cat only lists 1 45 and the cogs of dis only lists a handful and this one is unlisted.

The Rip Chords - Three Window Coupe/Hot Rod U.S.A.

I figure I will run into the promo color vinyl version some day. I have a few others of theirs on promo color vinyl

The Sensational Nightingales - Blood For Me / Right Now For Jesus

I finally was able to record some 45's yesterday but I had to download Audicity. I just could not get Roxio to work right...the recording level was way in the red and it would not let me adjust it. Audicity seems to be working fine but it is a bit more of a process. One other issue I seem to be having is some of my 45s are skipping..I suspect it is because I did not adjust the tracking and weight of the tonearm on my the new (used) technics turntable I picked up. I need to take time to do that and it always seems to take me awhile to do that.

I did record this one yesterday. I went ahead and took the liberty of adding "Sensational" to the name as that is who this is and I anticipate more from them. I am surprised I had overlooked them all these years

The Merseybeats - Wishin And Hopin /Milkman

Happy Saturday Peeps- Nice beat cover version of a cover version...ok, I'm being a little funny this morning. I'm going to go out on a limb here (which means I do not desire to do any research at all), and say that Dusty Springfield's was a cover version of the Dionne Warwick, and the Merseybeats version came 3rd. Oh, and the B side is killer. I have some other Merseybeats on US Fontana.

The Joe Cuba Sextet - Oh Yeah!/Sock It To Me

This work week has not been as brutal as I have had the past few weeks and I am grateful for that. I felt like a little Latin this morning. I don't always see Joe Cuba 45's but when I do it's always the same ones. I did find one of their LP's a few years ago

The Righteous Brothers - I Need A Girl

I have a bunch of posts in my draft that I need to re-record the songs or fix pictures so I can get them out of draft...sounds like a weekend project. I can't wait to test the new receiver with recording some 45s...I have a nice stack I want to get to.

I found this one in in the boxes from the closed 1972 record store. I am not sure I would have snagged it if I found it while crate digging....but once I put it on I realized sometimes things I probably would pass on are just too good to believe. This was the B side of their 2nd 45 and it did not hit the charts
