I remember when this was released and what a nice comeback it was for him. Radio played alot of the songs off this album. I saw Warren sometime around this time in Boulder Colorado

Jimmy had one Smash hit (Sugar Shack) a few other hits in the late 50s & 60's but many really good singles like this one did not chart. He died in September of 2024.

Lou Christie Genesis And The Third Verse

This was not the planned upload for today. I was preparing one and then I realized I had already uploaded it...TWICE. I have had that happen several times. I usually do a great job with double checking so I must have been in a hurry. Oh, well...it gave me the opportunity to upload another Lou Christie 45...Lou's birthday was this past week and would have been 83. Weird little 45 that did not hit the charts which really is no surprise

Paul Westerberg - Looking Out Forever / Last Hurrah

Indie week ends with a Paul Westerberg solo double sided banger. I loved the Replacements and first learned of when I heard Pleased To Meet Me. I've written how I would listen to the local college radio station in Ft. Collins and they had one night where they would play a complete new LP and one night they played Pleased to Meet Me. Needless to say I bought it shortly and then would buy anything and everything Replacements. 

Belly -Gepetto / Slow Dog

Indie week continues with a song that was released when I was living in Denver, but it was not until a few months ago that I actually scored a copy. Tanya Donelly was in the Throwing Muses and has been apart of The Breeders and of course lead Belly. Those Sire Belly albums are wonderful as is this double sided slice of brilliance. 

Less Than Jake- All My Best Friends Are Metalheads/Five State Drive

Another one I had never heard. I think my son liked Less Than Jake but I never listened to them. I probably have heard them on Sirius before on Factionpunk but I'm not really sure. So my ears were very happy when the sounds started coming out of the speakers on this one. 

James- Laid

I did not like this song when it was first released. But slowly over the years it grew on me. I didn't realize how prolific this band is and that they are still together. 

 

 

The House Of Love- Beatles and the Stones

Indie week continues with a song I heard for the first time when I worked nights at a group home in 1990 or so. A friend of mine was the awake staff and he would tape songs off the radio and then share them. I was happy to receive that over the past few months.

The Auteurs- Unsolved Child Murder/Back With The Killer Again/Former Fan/Kenneth Anger's Bad Dream

Indie week continues with an EP from the Auteurs. I bought the CD of this release either when it was released or shortly afterwards. A few years ago I was in a record store and they had a reissue of on vinyl on discount and idiot me did not buy it. When I went back it was gone. Another 2025 pickup

The Waterboys - The Return Of Pan

 Theme of the week is indie week and all of them are 45s I picked up over the past year. I have always liked the Waterboys but I never heard this until I picked it up
