The Palisades - Make The Night A Little Longer

Happy New Years Eve. I thought I would end the year with another one I knocked off the old want list. I would hear it all the time on Sirius the underground garage so I was happy to get it a few months ago. I thought the sleeve was interesting and was wondering if this was from the record company to a radio station.

It is time again to run down the numbers for this blog this year. I posted (counting today) on 363 days. I missed a day in April and one in July as a record collecting friend died and I was not up to posting. I continue to be motivated to share what it is in my collection and do wish I would get more requests.

I found out last year that this website called Music Feed had my blog featured in the 30 best Obscure Music Blogs. I am not sure how they get their rankings (hey, I post everyday) but I went from #10 to #19. I’m still honored to make this list.  Now for the stats. I have 49 followers (a growth of a whopping 2 followers), have made 2032 posts and have received 1215 comments. Total views of all the posts come out to 1,399,388 up from last year’s 1,035,863.

Top 20 All Time Views

I started this blog 15 years ago and these are the top 20 all-time views. In my best Casey Kasem imitation, Tommy James moves up to #1 from #4 while Jerry Holmes has moved down to #2. The Velvet Underground enter at #17 while Sam & Dave Soul Sister, Brown Sugar leaves the top 20.

A lot of these don’t have the sounds any longer due to the hosting site issue so I will ensure that all 20 of these have music attached.

I also plan to post more albums and some interesting indie 45’s I have picked up over the past few months.

Again, I want to thank everyone for taking time out to see what I feel like sharing. Drop me a message with your thoughts, suggestions or fun facts. If there are past songs not available send me a message and I will do my best to repost. GOD Bless and be safe.

The Sweet - Wig Wam Bam

I have found I have recorded a ton of 45s over the past few years that I have not uploaded. I really need to make time to put them in a folder together so I can get to them as I record new ones. This is one that I recorded over a year ago and one of those infectious Sweet songs.

On another note, it is time to gather my yearly and all time post views. Will be interesting to see if there were any changes in the top 20 all time views.

The Camelots - The Chase Part 1 and Part 2

I wish I had taken this week off work...of course I already have Thursday and Friday off but unfortunately I have some projects I need to finish.

Both sides of the label identifies instrumental but obviously that is not the case for Pt 1. By the way, I am happy with setting up my older Technics back as my recording turntable

The Miller Sisters - You Got To Reap What You Sow / Pop Your Finger

I recorded a bunch of 45s yesterday but no gospel ones. I have more I want to record so I will dig through the stack today for some. I recorded this one in November 2024 so I still quite a few I have not uploaded

Mono Men - Burning Bush

A little modern Garage Punk rock on this fine Saturday morning. My friend Craig turned me on to the Mono Men when we lived in Denver back when this was released. He loved all things Northwest (Sub Pop, C/Z, Estrus) and I found I gravitated to it as well. That west coast sound was so different than what was going on in the East (Merge, Matador). I remember working with a guy that had moved from Chapel Hill and he turned me on to Superchunk. I tried to turn him on to these West Coast sounds, but he absolutely hated the Mono Men...while he did like Beat Happening. I guess growing up nearly in the middle of the country allowed Craig and I to have the ability to like both coasts. 36 years later and I still like to blow the roof of this joint with the Mono Men.

Wayne Anthony - G For Girls

Back to Friday Soul. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas Day. If I don't runaround today (still up for debate), I think I will start planning for posts for the new year.

Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody

Merry Christmas. Another 2024 pickup. A song that is a classic in the UK but I don't think really caught on in the Colonies

Christmas this year is just my wife and I. Last year we spent Christmas with Mom, my brothers and their families and my son, his wife and my granddaughters. Unfortunately we just couldn't travel this year. At least my we will get to watch our granddaughters on the phone open their presents.

Opositive - Ho Ho Ho / Christmas Presence

The 11th day of Christmas finds me winding down with another pickup from this year- a pleasant surprise of a pickup. I have already started for next year with a few in the buy from Saturday. Always good to get a head start

They Might Be Giants - O Tannenbaum / Christmas Cards

Day 8 of Christmas posts. I had a copy of this years ago and it was crazy cracked. This was a recent pick up.

I received an early Christmas present yesterday. I saw a post for 1300 45s for $100. The picture didn't show anything you could make out other than a promo Reprise and promo Fontana label 45. I reached out Thursday to meet the person on Saturday morning. He was an hour away. We met and he had them in storage for over 30 years..he has a jukebox but decided to get rid of ones he does not listen to. He told me if I was not interested that was fine as a few other people had reached out to him. I opened the first box and in that handful were some promo rockabilly 45s and gospel on the peacock label. No need to look further, I happily handed him the $100. Once I went home I pulled out over 200 to clean and listen to...some garage and soul I am not familiar with. There were quite a few broken ones I tossed and some in extremely poor condition. It must have been providence that I pulled the ones I did as if I would have pulled the others I might have turned it down and I would have missed out on a great deal

Thee Headcoatees - Santa Claus

Day 7 of Christmas posts and you don't get any more Garage than the Headcoatees...matter of fact, anything related to Billy Childish is recommended, and a really cool picture disc to boot

Elton John - Step Into Christmas

6th Day of Christmas. Not much of an Elton fan but I do love this one

Thursday, December 18, 2025

Jim Croce - It Doesn't Have To Be That Way

5th Day of Christmas brings another classic reissued after his death. Barely dented the charts at #64, it deserved a better faring in my opinion.

The Goldtones - Christmas Party

4th day of Christmas rekerds--Not garagey like their other 45s but catchy as all get out. I picked this up when I picked up the unreleased JCP

Tuesday, December 16, 2025

Stonewall Jackson- Mommy Look, Santa is Crying / Blue Christmas

On the 3rd day of Christmas, we get the Christmas crying out of the way- Country Style

Darlene Love - Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)

The Twelve Days of Christmas posts. Thought I would start out with a biggie that I picked up around Christmas last year but already had my posts planned. I was happy to finally get a copy of this one. I'm still on the lookout for some other biggies on my want list and maybe someday.
