Edwin Starr - I'm Still A Struggling Man

Another wonderful day off thanks to the snow storm. I was able to spend part of it scanning labels and recording 45's, including tonight's 45. I picked this one up a few months ago...lovely promo red vinyl...yummy

Zombies - It It Don't Work Out

Plenty of snow and icy roads and frigid cold has allowed me extra time off this week- my kind of work week!

Donna Lynn - I'd Much Rather Be With The Girls

So we are supposed to get hammered with a snow storm 4-8 inches or so but so far it has just now started to sleet...I want to see big A** flakes and I want them SOON! Anyway, I received a call last night that woke me up and was told my job was closed today due to threat of rain/snow mix this morning. I still had to work at the clinic so I did not get to sleep in and still had to get up at 4am. I stayed extra at the clinic finishing up some paperwork I needed to, then headed off to get some stuff for dinner (wife made Beer Cheese Soup...Yummy). I felt like vegging and wanted to listen to music...what to do...oh yeah, I have this blog I upload stuff to...so I have spent all afternoon popping from one post to another. If I was motivated (which I am not), I would rescan the labels early posts and clean up when I tried to have the artist/title before the link to the song (yes, some of the early ones are a mess but again, not motivated). As I bounced around my blog I have to say I think I have done a pretty darn good job with diversity of genres and artists. I look forward to keeping it up.

I had at  one point wanted a "girl" solo/group night but it never happened. This was in the 3000 lot find from 2012. Listen to the song and then look at the writer's credits.....no peeking...wow, is this not a bizarre one...would have never believed it. Oh, and I have finally posted something else to my other music blog after nearly a year..check it out http://sonicparaphernalia.blogspot.com/

Sir Douglas Quintet - At The Crossroads

I rarely take time to read what I have written in past posts, but when I do I realize it is often simplicity in motion. Let's face it, the words I wrote last night prove I'm not much of an inspired writer most of the time. I think it is possible that 3 years of graduate level papers I had to write, plus writing reports/plans/assessments in my jobs daily leaves me with no desire to be wordy in this blog. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy posting items from my collection and you are clicking on the posting because of the 45, not any words of wisdom I have to write. What I do enjoy is reading comments about the 45's that have meaning to you, such as the comment Katie recently made regarding the Huckleberry Mudflap. I have uploaded several 45's and received nice comments from daughters (Cornbread, Huckleberry Mudflap) or members of the band (Larry Coverdale), or the artist (Mark Radice)- those stand out...if there were others I apologize in advance.

So most of the time you will get simplicity in the words of this blog but you will always get the passion from the music that inspires me, or gets me going. I will admit that my posts are not always a planned affair- I've scanned and uploaded many songs to the computer but it's a roulette wheel happy accident of what I post when I post.  So in the immortal words of Dr. Evil, "Throw me a fricken bone here, I'm the boss, I need the info" I'd like to do another listener request week in the future....send me your want lists of things you have never heard, want to hear, or the songs that make you happy, or the songs that have deep meaning for you and tell me your story so I can share. I like the challenge of seeing if I have items and if I don't I like to identify things to search and listen to.

Kingsmen - Give Her Lovin

Little time this week for music..at least there is this

Court Jesters- It's All Right

We are supposed to get snow tonight and I hope we do. Another one of those Roulette obscurities- this one from 1967. I know nothing about this band other than they put out 2 fine Roulette 45's, of which this one I liked the b-side the best...Ah the male angst, the "convincing" going on....was he successful? ....enough said on that one!

Rockaways - Top Down Time

I spent Saturday scanning 45 labels and yesterday morning recording 45's to the computer. I think I have me a batch to last awhile. Good thing as I need to get heavy into studying for my licensure test. I spent today relaxing and watching movies but tomorrow I am back to the grind. Once upon a time Monday blog night was saved for surf/hot rod songs. Time to continue tradition. I believe I read somewhere this was the Tokens

Troggs - I Want You

I had another rough long day with lots of driving but at least I was the passenger today. Yesterday, I was the driver and I had a weird scene that has bugged me for the past 2 days. Here goes...we were driving in the company vehicle to do a review (in a small town that will remain nameless). We were following the GPS when all of a sudden the road is closed and we have to take a detour. This messes the GPS all up and we end up damn going in circles.  We come up to a stop sign and there on the right side of the road is a house back away from the road but near the road was just a ton of debris...an old suitcase, clothes, magazines and books...and.....a ton of albums strewn out in piles like some disaster scene and it was not pretty, the only identifiable album at first glance was Dylan's Greatest Hits. If I had been by myself I probably would have stopped just to cry over the disaster...they had obviously been out in the weather for quite some time...what a crime!
Anyway, a classic Reg vocal...we lost him nearly a year ago

Daughters of Albion- Story Of Sad

I had a nice little day not planning to look for any records. I went to my friend's home and he showed me the goodies he has found over the past month and he gave me a couple of cool 45's. He also ran into a new store/yard sale today and bought 38 killer soul/blues lp's from the 60's and told me he left quite a few. I went by and ended up paying $20 bucks for 22 killer soul/blues /jazz lp's from the likes of Jr. Walker and the All Stars, Muddy Waters, BB King, Walter Jackson, Ike & Tina Turner, Curtis Mayfield, Miles Davis, Mississippi John Hurt etc. I spent the afternoon listening to 3 JR Walker LP's and the Miles Davis LP-All in very nice condition.
But this is not a soul night- it's my traditional garage/psych night and I desire to continue it with this moody baroque 45.

Bernie Moore - Forty Five RPM's

Cool B Side....oh so true and could be the theme song for this blog

Rory Storm And The Hurricanes - I Can Tell

It has been a week since we brought Ashton home and he now follows us around (more often than not) and even let me pick him up and pet him today. I guess 45 days of starving gave him some perspective. He has not missed a meal (which he used to do at least 4 times a week before). Bet he never misses another meal. And now back to music...how about some British Invasion sounds

Jr. Walker & The All Stars - Money

This vacation break has allowed me to do a little searching for records. I did not come up with any killer finds but have found a few including another dozen mostly deep soul 45's yesterday.
The upload for tonight was among some nice promo soul 45's I found in October.

Check out the posting from November 23, 2010 for the Sidewalk Skipper Band as I was sent a link for a video for the song...Fantastic

Huckleberry Mudflap - Eyes Of Blue

Here are the top 10 viewed posts since I started this blog. I neglected to do a list last year but did one the previous year. The only holdovers from the 2012 list are #2 Wild Thing which was #5, and the Astronauts which was previously #1 viewed post.  I am very surprised that the Tommy James song is the most viewed but it is one of my faves

The first post of the year is an obscure North Carolina band. Yes, pretty mellow but it seemed to fit the mood for the day. I had thought I had posted one of their other 45's but it appears I have not after all. I may have to rectify that!
