Stevie Wonder - What Christmas Means To Me

Merry Christmas. This was a down year in locating new and fantastic Christmas 45s to add to my collection. But I did find this lucky charm, rarity that has been on my want list for some time.

The Jam - Down In The Tube Station At Midnight

It has been too long since my last post. Call it a mixture of lack of time, lack of opportunity and shear laziness. This blog has not gone as I would have liked over the past year. Let's see if I can do better in 2017.
I was a late comer to finding out about the Jam. They were not very popular in the states and that is a shame. Some of their US 45's are hard to find and I am fortunate to have all of them [I think].

Jay And The Americans - Sunday And Me

It has been a busy month with work, the Hurricane etc. We lost power for 3 days and had some minor damage and were blessed compared to all those who lost everything. But I am back with a bang, a not so rare 45 [I believe this was the first hit single Neil Diamond wrote] with a very rare promo only picture sleeve. Searched for years for this and lucked into a copy dirt cheap.

db's - Black and White

So I finally got my lap top fixed so a little patience will be needed to get back in to the grind of jumping back in to the classic soul and garage music.  I have more modern music ready [well if you can call tonight's 36 year old 45 modern! I always loved the db's and Peter and Chris still put things out. Oh, Chris by the way is Chris Stamey, a more recent upload. Yep, I paid 3 bucks for this back in the day.

Gories- Give Me Some Money

Another week done gone. It was fairly slow on the record front. I have pretty much taken it easy as I had injured my leg [don't ask me how cuz I don't know] so I have been limping along slow and easy. Today's Sub pop upload is from a Singles Club release. The Gories version of a Spinal Tap song.  4,500 pressed up with most on Red. The Blue and Pink versions are extremely limited [pink the rarest] and both are pricey! Classic!

Rev. Horton Heat - Psychobilly Freak Out

Another Sub Pop Sunday. This has been a quick few days. I enjoyed taking a friend of mine to a record store on Friday that was about 3 hours away. I had not been to this little shop in 1 1/2 years. Picked up a bunch of cool vinyl and had a great time but now for the big let down- time to go back to work tomorrow.
Tonights Sub Pop offering is a scorcher. I highly rcommend all his Sub Pop releases especially te 10" release of which. I have several different copies of the 10" as well as a test pressing of it. It's a Pscyhobilly Freakout!

Chris Stamey - The Summer Sun

I picked up a about 100 45s over the past couple of days and some nice variety. My Laptop continues to be out of commission so of course I am forced to wait until it is repaired to record them. Tonight I share a nice powerpop 45 from Chris Stamey. I bought this in a Denver record store at least 24 years ago. What a fantastic 45 that was produced by Alex Chilton.

Dinosaur Jr - The Wagon Sub Pop Sunday

Sub Pop Sunday. One of my faves from the early days of Sub Pop glory. I was on a vacation road trip and happened to be in Seattle when this was released so my white vinyl copy was purchased in Seattle. Later found out about the pink and purple versions and snagged them up after searching far and wide. The white vinyl pressing was about 10,000 copies while the purple version was limited to about 200 copies. There are no accurate numbers on the pink version but it is most likely a few hundred as well. Dinosaur Jr. is still round and have a new LP coming out in a week or so [I have pre ordered a purple vinyl version]

Afghan Whigs - Sister Brother Sub Pop

Sub Pop Sunday #2. The Afghan Whigs.. Some of the most powerful music to slam out during the grunge era. I saw them in concert a few times, the last time was most notable. It was at the Mercury Cafe in Denver Colorado. Several of the songs that night eventually were put on the What is Jail Like release [I have a promo 12" for that release]. So without more interruption,  here is one of my favorites with a copy of the promotional video as well

Beat Happening - Red Head Walking Sub Pop

Wow, it's been a month since my last upload. My laptop has been having problems with charging and I'm waiting for the repair shop to get the part in. Damn thing is only 2 years old. Anyway, I'm working off older stuff recorded and scanned or working with my All In One Computer...what a pain.

One of the things I had planned since making this blog more inclusive of my collection was my plan to share some of my favorite Sub Pop 45's. I've been collecting Sub Pop since pretty much their beginning. I have a World Class Sub Pop collection [yeah, kinda of bragging but I have pretty much everything but the Nirvana Love Buzz 45]. Each Sunday I plan a Sub Pop upload. Today's is one of my all time favorite 45s. I bought the black and red vinyl version new in 1990. I found my 1st green vinyl about 10 years ago and recently scored another copy on green which is slightly different than my marble version. The Green Vinyl copies have been known to be really pricey. I highly recommend Dreamy, the LP this song came from.
