Neil Sedaka - We Can Make It If We Try

I will admit I liked Neil Sedaka when I was younger but do not listen to him now. This was one of his last RCA 45's and it's become an indemand Northern Soul 45.

The Reasons For Being A Thousand Years

Well arrived back from Charlotte about 30 minutes ago. What a long damn day, but I did get a chance to spend 45 minutes in the record store. Only found a few 45s, but I guess that is better than none.

Eighth Movement - Sweeter & Sweeter

Brothers and sisters welcome to Wednesday Soul Night. Another Teddy Vann production.
As a side note, correct "b" side for the Larry Coverdale 45 is up. I use my old desk top to tape songs to then transfer them to my lap top. Well, somehow when I transfered them to the laptop it renamed them all...What a damn mess!

FIre and Brimstone - Underground

Spring break is in a few weeks and I plan on spending part of my "free" Saturday looking for records. I love going to school but it does eat into my time to run around scouring for goodies. I am going to Charlotte one day and hopefully will get a chance to hit this cool little record store there.

The Brave New World - It's Tomorrow

So I found a link to a blog I used to visit on a routine basis but had not been to in ages  ( http://chocoreve.blogspot.com/ ) and was saddened to see no posts since November 2008. One day he posted and the next no more and this was confirmed by the numerous posts wondering where he went.  It got me thinking how sad if something happened to him. He had loyal followers and probably developed many cyber friendships. Its not like when a celebrity dies and it is all over the news. A regular person dies and only those closest are aware. If you have cyber friends or a blog, in most cases your family does not continue it and those who followed it are left wondering. Very few of us will have family like the founder of http://www.spectropop.com/ who posted about his death and left his site up. When I go, this site will take up bandwith and transmission will end without fanfare, or acknowledgement as my wife won't have a clue how to post "Gregg croaked". If I ever decide to stop both blogs I promise to say "hey I quit". If transmission ends like chocoreve....well, I aint around. Whew, I think I just pushed myself into a blue funk. But dear friends, I am not planning on going anywhere so lets get to the music. I actually had planned a surf type song and uploaded a picture and song. I have done a quick revision for today due to the song not being the right song (have not clue what I did but will have to re-record later)

Nova Local - If You Only Had The Time.

Here is a North Carolina rarity. I picked up a limited reissue of their rare lp last year. They had one other Decca 45 that I know of and also put out a 45 under a different name on Brunswick.

I uploaded the "b" side to the Larry Coverdale 45 as requested. I also updated Sonic Parahernalia with some classic Billy Childish.

Steff - Had A Dream

Not much information that I could find on Steff Sulke. I know of 4 45s he put out.

Garnet Mimms - Take Me

I've been up since 3am. I'm starting to crash so here is a quick one. How about a return to friday night soul.

Belfast Gipsies - Portland Town

I believe when "Them" splintered, one faction continued with the name "Them"; while the other faction formed this group. It does not hurt that there is some Kim Fowley involvement! Divishare seems to be having difficulties....will upload tomorrow...
update- have included a link to the b side on youtube for Brian!

The Invitations - Hallelujah

Happy anniversary to me! This is a special post as one year ago today I uploaded my first post. Of course the first few weeks were hit and miss (mostly miss) with trying to get sounds to work. But thanks to some help I managed to get it to work and here we are today. I had set a goal to have a daily post, and while I did not meet that goal I came pretty darn close with 343. I had also planned to be a bit more wordy but with starting graduate school I have found my old brain needs more study time. So thank you dear listeners for the past year and all the kind words. Mostly thank you for allowing me to indulge in sharing all aspects of my musical obsessions; from the garage/psych tracks that juice you, and coming back after listening to a track I like but does not juice you up. The next year promises to follow the same formula..for good or bad.

Oshun - Ridin With The Milkman

Interesting 45 on Mercury.

Harry's Group - Under My Umbreooa

So we had a rainy/sleet/snow mix this morning. I thought of this song for some reason. Co-written by Billy Vera. Yeah, its wimpy and you will probably hate it but lighten up!

Impressions - Never Too Much Love

Man oh man the Impressions were awesome. What a voice on Curtis Mayfield. Whew, in a perfect world I would be able to sing like this. As a side note, the Bards did a wonderful version of this song as well.

Fenways - Be Careful Little Girl

Choir - Don't You Feel A Little Sorry For Me & No One Here To Play With

I'm pretty disgusted tonight and am going to rant and feel sorry for myself. I'm in need of a new car as my reliable Civic has 200,000+ miles on it and is starting to have some problems and I can't keep taking it to the shop. I once owned a 1993 Ford Ranger which I dearly loved and have been wanting another pickup. I don't need anything huge so I test drove a 2011 Ranger today. I had my heart set on this truck till I sat in it. Talk about uncomfortable to sit in, terrible handling, felt every bump in the road and was incredibly noisy. What a damn waste of part of a day. So, not sure what I am going to look at next but at least there is music to soothe the soul.

Sweets - Mama Saw Me

Had a long day today and I think tomorrow will also be a long one. Nice to spend a few minutes just listening to a song. I've got a current tired brain funk going on but I believe this group was comprised of sisters and one of the sisters put out a few later 60's 45s of which I have one. Will update the post when I can remember her name.

Cherokees - A Wonderous Place

A nice obscure British invasion 45.
