Freddy Cannon - 20th Century Fox

Now here is a crazy one. I would have never guessed this would have worked. I mean, really! But we have a very worthwhile cover version. Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon covering a song off the Doors debut. Freddy really wanted to do a note by note cover of THE END but Warner Brother's nixed that idea (ok, that was a lie, but a could you imagine Freddy singing, "Ride The Snake, To The Lake" or, "Father, I want to Kill you, Mother, I want to...all night long".

That is extremely weird. Very faithful to the original, down to the guitar solo and the keyboard fills ... but still weird. Not so much if you don't remember Boom Boom from his salad days in the late '50s and early '60s, but all the more remarkable if you do.

Yep, weird in a good way. When I was younger I grooved on Palisades Park but my tastes evolved a bit. I've got a bunch of his Swan 45's and a few of his other WB 45's but this one is the only keeper in the lot
