Liked it. Any chance of hearing the flip side?

Larry was one of the original members of the Shondells along with Tommy James and probably was one of people playing on original "Hanky Panky" in 1963. Sad thing was, group disbanded before song became the hit it became.

I think I have the b side copied. If not, will do that this weekend and post it. I'm a huge TJ fan....had no clue this guy was in the original Shondells. Will have to see if he is on the Hanky Panky LP...seems like there were a ton of shondells on that cover before they pared down to the standard group. On a side note, I picked up a WLP of "I Like the Way" today.

I am Richard "Dick" Bliley, one of the writers and performers on the record, "Say You Really Love Me." The flip side was a song called, "Long Cold Winter." We were also in the middle of Hit Parade Magazine in the Feb., 1966 issue where they called Larry and me, "the second Everly Brothers." Larry wrote the flip side of the original song, Hanky Paky, recorded on "Snap" records. The song was an instrumental called, "Thunderbolt." The Four Horsemen were, Larry Coverdale (rhythm guitar, vocal), Richard Bliley (bass guitar, vocal), Larry Collins (lead guitar, vocal), and Bobby Davis (drums, harmonica, vocal). We were a road group and played all over the U.S. Larry and I wrote several hundred songs together and played together for many years afterwards. I don't know why we didn't "hit it big," because we really did have a great sound. If you listen to Larry's unique rhythm guitar style and sound, you will hear that it is also that sound that made Hanky Panky unique. If you would like anymore blanks filled in, I can be reached at, richardbliley@live.com

This is Richard Bliley again. That Hit Parade article may have been in 1967. I have the article, but need to find it to make sure.

Richard, thanks for the wonderful information. Did you guys put out any other singles? Did you work with any other groups? I'm planning on uploading the "b" side tomorrow.

I'm sorry I didn't see your question earlier. Yes, we had several other records out, all of the others recorded on "Snap" Records, the same one that originally recorded the Shondell's "Hanky Panky." Shap was owned by a Niles, Michigan D.J., by the name of Jack Defanbaugh (not sure of the spelling of the last name). He also went by Jack Douglas. Larry Coverdale and I started and played in several bands together before his untimely death... The Del Sigma Five, Paramounts, Brother Freedom, Silvercreek, The Burmuda Triangle, and I'm sure there are several I've forgotten. What a great time in my life... What a loss for me when Larry passed.

Larry Coverdale is my uncle, I'm trying to get a copy of any 45's out there. He was a great writer and player. Great to see Richard commenting on this, they were truly great, and before their time.

Larry Coverdale is my uncle, he passed away several years ago. I've been looking for as many 45's possible. Not sure how many there are though. Tommy James and The Shondells - Snap and Roulette Hanky Panky, Thunderbolt and Larry Coverdale and The Four Horseman - Roulette Say You Really Love Me, Long Cold Winter. Great to see Richard commenting on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think I have an extra copy of this 45 if anyone is interested. I'll have to see if I can locate it

Does anyone know where I can find any LP's or 45's?
I already have this 45 and Hanky Panky - Thunderbolt 45.
Thanks in advance, Adrian Coverdale

This is Larry Coverdales daughter, I recently found this thread again. Richard Bliley passed away several years ago as did my Dad. I'm thrilled to see so many people still loving their music!
