Bobby Patterson - Long Ago

Another leftover that fit right in with my the other 9 Bobby Patterson promo's I have. What are the odds that the only Bobby Patterson 45 in this lot was a promo on color vinyl I was missing. Dumb F****** luck!

Johnnie Mae Matthews - Cut Me Loose

Yep, being lazy...no excuses. Picked up the new Spiritualized LP this week. By far the best release of the year. Ah,  but that is for another blog. Bought a shelving unit today so I can reorganize my albums as I've got to get the record room(s) in order! I have so many lp's that I have started using the room next to my record room. My wife is not too excited about this but hey, my record room is upstairs and she never goes upstairs anyway. The other room is mostly the "junk" room anyway. For tonight, yes we have leftovers!

Evey Partin, Curley Samples and Pilot Mountain Quartet - I'll Have A New Life

Ok, took nearly 2 weeks off from the blog. I've been trying to organize the record cave of mine but it is no more in order today than it was 2 weeks ago. I've picked up a few things over the past few weeks but nothing incredibly special. I did get get well worn copy of the Hogs 45 on HBR...Hopefully I can get it cleaned up a bit. Thought I would do a little Sunday night gospel with some vintage NC gospel bluegrass. This was among the 3000 and I really really like it alot. There is going to be a lot of leftover spillage from the 3000 for some time!

The Third Bardo - I'm Five Years Ahead Of My Time & Rainbow Life

#1
I often hear this song on Little Steven's Underground Garage and each time I would hear it I would think how much I love this song. It's pricey and again I did not think I would get a copy, so let me paint you a picture of my reaction. It was a nice wonderful warm Saturday when it arrived into my hands. It had taken 3 of us to load the two huge plastic tubs filled with 45's into my car-one in my trunk and one on the back seat. I arrived home, went into the house to get some boxes I had upstairs as there was no way I could move the tubs due to how heavy they were. So I have the passenger side door open and I am sorting through 45's. Suddenly I come accross a pristine copy of this 45. I start laughing like crazy and I run into the house excitedly and tell my wife, "It's the Third Bardo 45, It's the Third Bardo 45."She looks at me like I'm nuts. What can I say, you don't find stuff like this everyday! Anyway, this amazing slice of heaven did not appear it had ever been touched. From what I can gather, this was only available as a promotional 45 and never touched the inside of a record shop.

Tamrons - Wild-Man

#2
I really struck it rich on the hard to find North Carolina records. This is one of those items I never in my wildest dreams thought I would have a chance to own. Pyramid was another one of those North Carolina labels that had few pressings. A record store owner recently told me he thought the Pyramid label pressings were around 500 or so. He also told me he has sold several of these for $1400...YIKES. The good news on this one is the A side is in really good condition. The bad news is the B side has a deep gouge scratch and is unplayable. I guess if there was a side to be trashed I am glad it is not WILD-MAN. Man do I love primative garage music.

Frankie & The Damons - Man From Soul & I Hope You Find The Way

#3
Monster North Carolina Soul. I started collecting JCP about 10 years ago when I found my first JCP. I was completely unaware of the local Raleigh label and have slowly learned more thanks to finding some or reading what articles I can find (thanks to John Hook for recently sending me an article). This one stood out as one of the most expensive and I met a guy once who told me he sold one for 5 benjamins. I figured I would never find one but luck was on my side and I am happy it is now in my collection. Oh, and for you garage lovers....this is the last soul 45 of this list

Bobby Freeman - Lies & I Got A Good Thing

#4
Found a few 45's in my yard sale search today, and my friend Jim gave me some gospel 78's on the Peacock label, and a rare garage 45 from Goldsboro, NC that I was unaware of. Last week Jim called me about a yard sale and I ended up buying between 100-150 albums for 50 bucks. Thanks bud!
For tonight, the #4 45 is the least pricey of my top 5.  Bobby Freeman was better known for songs like Do You Wanna Dance, and C'mon & Swim. I liked both sides but especially the "Lies" side. My wife said the opening music reminded her of Tom Jones. Maybe so, but I really really liked it. Just to give you a little anticipation, the top 3 are MONSTERS, and mean I MONSTERS in terms of how killer they are and how pricey they are.

Ellusions - You Wouldn't Understand

#5
The countdown is down to the last five of my find, or rather the top five of my find (obviously in my opinion). At #5 we have a very very pricey and very hard to find North Carolina soul 45. This is the 2nd copy of this 45 I have been fortunate to find and I think I will keep this one.

Coronadas - You Can Do Me Some Good

#8
This 45 has really grown on me and would have been higher on the list except for the fact the rest of the list is killer. I'm glad for the day off tomorrow!

Sean And The Brandywines - Cod'ine & She Ain't No Good

#10
Many cool versions of Cod'ine. The Clique did a version of She Ain't No Good.
