Today's post has a funny story. Just over 8 years ago, my wife went to Florida to take care of her mother for about a month. This allowed me to roam far and wide looking for records. One Saturday, I was on the way home from a South Carolina trip. In a town near us, I went into an antique store for records. As I was leaving, I was approached by an older couple who told me they had a bunch of 45's. I arranged to go to their home a few weeks later. They had about 300 promo 45's that belonged to a friend of theirs who had lived with them. There was alot of cool MGM promos from the Animals, Hermits, etc and I offered them $200. They declined saying they needed to ask their friend. Well, I called them several times and they would not answer so I quit bugging them. Fast forward 8 years: a few weeks ago, there was a craiglist ad from that town about promo 45's for $200..could it be the same ones???? I emailed the seller and he called me and we arranged to meet at a Lowes'. The minute I arrived I recognized him although he did not act like he remembered me. I did a quick look through and offered him $150. I took out 5 twenties and he said "Oh, $100 will be just fine". Waiting 8 years saved me $100. This cool 45s was in that box. I always loved the Tommy James & The Shondells version and this one hits the spot as well
My feeble attempt at documenting my record collection and music obsession.

The Elvis Brothers- Hidden In A Heart-beat
It seems I may be back in action. Had to have the motherboard in my computer replaced...what a pain in the tail feathers. I've been busy on the record front...I lucked into a a few huge buys over the past 6 months...purchased over 6000 in late November and a few weeks ago I bought what I was told was 4,000 45's....well it really turned out to be around 11,500 give or take a few hundred. I've got boxes of 45's everywhere. I really don't need to run around looking for 45's ever again (yeah, right). Since the computer is up and running again, I thought I would post something that was in the November buy. I probably would not have given this 45 a 2nd thought but threw it on the other night and was pleasantly surprised. I love powerpop and this has that feel to me.
Today, I hope to continue to dig in the 45 boxes but I need to get my fence repaired. I had posted over a year ago that we lost our beloved Bently..It has been a rough time without that dog...he was so loved. We have finally decided to open up our home again to a dog and we found a puppy (Cooper) that was rescued with his mom and 8 siblings. He will be 6 weeks old on the 23rd and we pick him then. I see a record shopping buddy in my future!
