Here is an obscure Gem- a cover version of the Skip and Flip 1959 #11 hit...Flip was Garry Paxton who wrote this....Good things come from Canada!
My feeble attempt at documenting my record collection and music obsession.

Gerald Goodwin And The Good Guys - Insurance / Ookie From Muskogee
My readyshare was not working again but at least I prepared yesterday and uploaded pics and mp3's just in case. I rebooted my router and its working again. I received some Christmas 45's in the mail yesterday so its now just a matter of choices.
I was going to post this one a few weeks ago but didn't want to do 2 Merle Haggard songs in a row. Obscure Kinston North Carolina label

Len Barry - You Baby / Would I Love You
I woke up with a crink in my neck, we have a heavy rain and the readshare was not working again. Almost cause to go back to bed but I'm a trooper. I took care of the crink with a heavy hot shower, can't do anything about the rain, but rebooted the router and readyshare is working again. I really need to figure that out as I don't want that to be a daily thing.
Len was in the Dovalls and had a few solo hits most notably 1-2-3, but this was probably one of my favorites of his. Killer cover of You Baby (Ronettes do a killer version as well)

Jimmy Buffett - Come Monday
I did not record anything this weekend as I figured I would get my old setup back in play. I am anticipating putting a turntable in the living room . I think I have enough mp3's floating around on my computer to keep me going until I am back up and running. I set up my new router this weekend and the readyshare set up perfectly. Of course, this morning I had issues with accessing it...always something it seems!

Highway QC's - Nobody Knows / All Men Are Made By God
A nice Gospel reissue on the Oldies label. Interesting the Oldies label reissued this but a wonderful choice - A very Sam Cooke vibe going on here
The new record stand arrived yesterday and I spent hours putting most of it together. Just need to finish putting the doors on. It wasn't really what I wanted but my wife liked it better than the minimalist stand I wanted. It will hold a bunch of lp's as well so I will decide which ones to bring down (that I know my wife will enjoy)

Fire And Ice - The Music Man / For The Money
Here is another recent find. I am going to Lowes this morning for some baseboard trim and then maybe hit the record store. Need to be home before Noon to watch the final Colorado game of the year

Bobby Baskerville - Soul Talk / Gotcha Where I Wancha
Here is another one I had to re-record. I will be happy to get my turntable setup back to where it was (hopefully).

John Lennon - #9 Dream
Happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful that our home projects (for this year anyway) are complete. The company doing the last project finished around 11pm last night. I plan on taking it easy today and will of course record some music. The turkey was brined and is ready to go into the oven around 11am or so, stuffing is done but needs to be cooked and my wife made a pumpkin bread pudding. A wonderful feast for two!
I ordered a stereo stand for the living room and another receiver so next week a turntable will grace the living room for the 1st time in 25 years. I am already thinking of the lp's to bring down that I know my wife will play. Probably will pick up a TV this week during Black Friday sales to put on the wall as my wife bought 2 couches. It appears we may actually use our living room for what it is intended!
Today I offer a John Lennon promo...you don't see Apple promos that much and I happen to have 2 copies of this one...go figure.

The Clovers - Your Cash Ain't Nothin But Trash / I Got My Eyes On You
I first heard the A side of this 45 not from the Clovers but from the Steve Miller Band off their The Joker LP (it was a minor hit). Much later I learned it was a cover version and was happy to find a copy in this killer Atlantic old time sleeve. I felt this was appropriate for today as I get to write checks for the 2 big projects we just had finished. Floors look great and I started putting the living room back together yesterday.
Also, noticed it cuts out in the 2nd song for about 5 seconds. I need to get some Turntable furnature for the living room then I am going back to my old set up and putting the Turntable I picked up this summer downstairs in the living room. Hopefully that will fix my recording issues

The Rivvits - Never / Boy Meets Girl
Our new flooring was installed yesterday in the living room, hallway, den and kitchen. Now time to put the house back together so I can find the roaster for the turkey as it was up in the back bedroom.

The Gamblers - Moon Dawg! / LSD-25
I picked this up a few months ago but recording did not turn out so I re-recorded yesterday. Doubt this sleeve went with this 45 but it still looks cool in it.

The Gospelaires - Only Believe / Good Time
I wasn't prepared for today as I did not record yesterday like I wanted, so I had to record this after my church programs. Have a steady plan to get some 45s recorded today

The Trolls - I Don't Recall / Stupid Girl
This is an exciting post for me. I grew up near Pueblo Colorado where the Trolls were from. When I was in high school I found a badly warped/heat damaged copy of their 45 at a Goodwill. Fast forward to my adult years and I ended up selling it (and quite a few others) due to some health issues my wife had. A few years later I scored a copy of the Picture Sleeve really cheap. Last year I was in contact with someone in Colorado who claimed they had quite a few copies of the 45 but refused to sell me a copy. Not sure why you would want to hoard copies of a 45 but whatever. So recently, there was a mail order auction by Barry Wickham and I managed to win his auction. It only took me 20+ years to match it up with the 45 and I am happy the sleeve has it's mate.

Honey Love And The Love Notes - We Belong Together /Mary Ann
I am still having some problems with recording 45s. Sometimes they record just fine...other times they start out not clear, and then I am finding sometimes it fades out in the middle. I have to listen to each aftewards to make sure. I didn't do that with this one and it starts out a little rough.

Carlene Carter - Too Bad About Sandy/ Baby Ride Easy
My front door lately has been an assembly line of record packages. I'm like pavlov's dog when the postal truck drives up...lol
I heard the B side of this on the Underground Garage one Saturday and it was put on my want list. Then I managed to score an inexpensive copy via auction so it was a recent mailorder arrival. A side is killer too but love that B side. Dave Edmunds sings on the A side and Nick Lowe produced this 45- of course she was married briefly to Nick.

Kenny Vance - Looking For An Echo
I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and having a few days off. I have never tried brining a turkey but plan to this year. My wife's stuffing is the bomb so that will be the highlight.
I managed to score a copy of Kennys LP years ago when I won the big LP lot I have written about. This was the highlight track for me and I finally picked up this 45 a few weeks ago. It wasn't until last year that I realized Kenny was in Jay and The Americans.
