Martha Star - No Part Time Love For Me / It's Too Bad Baby

I hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday and did not over indulge. I did not over do it...well, except for the stuffing and gravy...yum. I hope if you are going out today to brave Black Friday that you are safe. I used to go out on Black Friday...remember buying TV's and such...or Black Friday Record store day...no more of that crap for me. I saw little that interested me record wise and did see a picture from a record store of some of their releases and they had $20 for a Beatles reissue 45...are you F'in kidding me...$20 bucks. Record store day has become a ridiculous money grab monster...oh, my...I think I need to have another cup of coffee and relax..lol. I know, how about some deep Detroit soul to get me groovin in the right direction

Artful Dodger - Think Think

Happy Thanksgiving with a little powerpop. I will put the turkey on in a few hours and my wife's stuffing is already done. She also made a homemade pumpkin pie so I will be in food nirvana later today....the veggie will be green beans but I can go light on that...lol

Men Without Hats - Pop Goes The World

I am happy this is a holiday week. Last year we spent Thanksgiving in Charleston South Carolina in an AirBnB with our son and the grandkids. This year we are staying home and that feels good to me...Relax with some turkey and my wife's fabulous stuffing...football...Colorado needs to win to still be eligible for the Big 12 Championship....it is going to be a good week so why not have a little top 40 catchy pop indulgence...

The Hombres - Let It Out / Go Girl Go

I was spinning 45s yesterday and thought I would toss on this classic. I hate to admit it but I had never listened to the B side. Wow was I pleasantly surprised and it reminded me of drag car songs so I thought it would be a perfect Monday song.  I read that the Hombres were the Daytonas from Ronnie & The Daytonas..and I really can hear it on the B side

Brian - Give and Take

Another one I picked up a few months ago. Belgium 45 from the 60's I don't believe was released in the states. It would have fit nicely in the bubblegum style that was popular then. I had to search my phone for the photos as I have recorded a bunch of songs but I have haphazardly taken photos or uploaded photos to the computer so I have a bit of organization to do. It is also time for me to start collecting my Christmas 45s together.

Henry Shed - Somethings Drastically Wrong

Wonderful song to end the working week with. I have had this 45 for awhile but I have been searching for a company sleeve to pair with it. I know I have one but I spent way too much time to no avail going through the unorganized company sleeve mess I have. I was over at a friends this past weekend digging through his 45's and boom...found one.

Billy Squier - Like I'm Lovin You

I was a big Billy Squier fan when I was in high school. I remember the Stroke was all over the radio and I bought the LP that was on brand new. Not long afterwards I bought his first solo LP The Tale of The Tape and this song was one of the highlights for me. This 45 and picture sleeve is not an easy one to find. I found the picture sleeve with a promo 45 (both sides had You should be High Love) about 5 years. This past summer I finally found the stock copy with this song on the b side. I previously posted his The Big Beat 45 which was also from this lp. Billy of course was in the band Piper before he went solo and that is some nice rock/powerpop and deserves to grace this blog

The Shadows Four - Leavin Home / You'll Be The Blame

I was distracted this morning with too much on my plate before work. These afterwork uploads just ruin my spirit..but at least it is a killer JCP.

Elvis Presley - The Bosom Of Abraham

Elvis could belt out the gospel songs. Another difficult one to find of his and short and to the point

The Beas - International Girl / Nothing Can Go Wrong

I love those girl sound 45s. I picked this up within the last year but honestly I don't remember where. I rarely see this label out and about and if you do it is allways the Murmaids single. Accourding to this International Girl is the B side but I liked it bets. The other side seems to be jumping on the Sonny and Cher sound bandwagon

Julie London - In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning/ Time For Lovers

I am in the mood for some sultry silky smooth sounds. So I have this secret not so secret love of Julie London and I always take chances on her records. I can imagine many a 1960's bachelor pad had a stack of Julie lp's to play for mood music. I often play her Golden Greats lp as nice relaxing background music. I read she was a heavey drinker and smoker and that it eventually affected her voice and singing. I seem to remember she had a deep voice on the show Emergency but I was a kid so my memory may be skewed. There is some weird factory pressing bump issue on both sides of this and you can slightly hear it. If not for that...this thing is spotless. And who can resist this picture sleeve. Liberty released many a Extended Play with her picture but very few 45 picture sleeves. I just learned their is a promo for her Christmas 45...guess I need to find that one
