Freddy And The Sounds Of Soul - You're The Beat Of My Heart / That Ain't Right

The Flea Market was pretty weak yesterday. The guy I like to buy records from had a ton of 45's and was running a special on them so I bought some I normally would not have bought. But really, nothing exciting. I came home and did some more work peeling wallpaper in the bathroom..what a tedious job. I was going to go to an auction last night that I know had records but was just too tired to go. Today, I will record...I have a pile of 45s including quite a bit of gospel to get back on track.

Substantial Evidence - Death Angel/Please Walk On By

Another brilliant pickup from Jesse. I love the Left Banke and can't you just hear them in this song. I love the label on this 45.

I'm getting ready to do my happy dance as I am heading out the door for the flea market...I hope I find some musical goodies

Alvin Cash & The Crawlers - The Penguin (Tuxedo Bird) / Unwind The Twine

I had another one ready but the A side was more instrumental bubblegum while the B side was instrumental soul...sounds interesting doesn't it...I am going to wait and post it next week. So, Tuxedo Bird is up..I believe I picked this up from the closed record store haul

April Young - To Be Loved By You/ Kiss Your Baby Goodbye

If you have followed this blog you know I love the girl sounds. I think I have a few more April Young 45's in the undocumented boxes I have. There is not alot of information on April...she eventually married Jerry Ross and she died in 1989..

The Coolies - Bad Bad Boy / Over You

It seems I have been doing something right as the viewings for some of these recent postings have been excellent. I thank you for checking my blog out and I do encourage anyone to reach out and make a request. I've had no requests for past ones that no longer have sounds so I am sorta of coming up with a plan for some of them (a not so organized plan I must admit). For today, let's go brand spankin new. Heard this on Little Steven's and ordered it from the band...very limited so I was happy to get a copy. Palmyra Delran's Saturday morning show is my favorite...man I would love to dig in her record collection as we seem to have the same taste.

Graham Parker and the Rumour - Protection

I am in slow motion this morning. I went to bed with a horrible neck/headache and woke up numerous times...finally it went away with the help of my tenz unit. Have not hurt that much in awhile but I obviously need some protection. Picked up both these copies this summer...cool sleeves!

Man or Astro Man? - Sferic Waves / Inside The Atom /Put Your Finger In The Socket / 24 Hours

How about a little modern surf on the wonderful Estrus Label. I'm not pleased with the sound..there is a bit of a hiss...I need to look into different recording software

Danny And The Velairs - What Am I Livin For

I was busy from the time the sun came up yesterday until about 4:30...and my body feels it this morning.I still have more to do but there is no way today...body needs to rest and heal. I have a bunch of records to record and I want to record some older posts as well...any suggestions of posts that no longer have sounds you would like to hear? Speak now or I will take it on myself to pick and choose

The Swing Masters - Precious Dreams/Daylight Hours

Here is one of those slow moody kind of garage 45s I so love...I do have a bit of guilt over this one. Recently an acquaitance inquired about its availablility and after listening to it (which I had obviously not done in years), I decided it was a keeper. Pyramid 45's are so difficult to find...the last one I found was a few years ago.

No flea market today...going to powerwash the front, paint the Chimney's and front porch and put up new lattice.

The Entertainers – Love In My Heart / My Pad

I would love to go to the flea market tomorrow morning for my mental health care but I need to get some projects done like powerwashing the front of the house and painting. Looks like the Flea Market will need to be next week. Today we have a promo 45 from The Entertainers- (8) as on discogs. That was a very popular name.  My Pad is a big rip off of the Drifters

The Holdup blew up yesterday- most viewed post in some time...what am I doing right or wrong?????

David Bromberg - The Holdup

All the projects I am having done at home are going to cost. How am I going to pay for it you ask...well it won't be a hold up...lol. I have always had an advernterous spirit when it comes to discovering music. When I was a teenager I bought David Bromberg's greatest hits somewhere along the way. I loved this song that he co-wrote with George Harrison. I was happy to pick it up on 45 recently.

I am surprised sometimes by the songs that I post that garner the most views...take the Butterflys last week and the Turtles yesterday...lots of views...not sure why they resonate...please share with me!

The Turtles - The Story Of Rock & Roll / Can't You Hear The Cows

I finally scored a copy of the rarest Turtles Picture Sleeve months ago. It was the last one of theirs that I did not have. I figured I would never get a copy as past prices were a bit crazy but it seems prices have come down and I was able to get it at a reasonable price. Not their strongest 45 but written by Nilsson. B side reminds me of The Beach Boys Smile LP

Bo Donaldson And The Heywoods - Teenage Rampage

A cover version of one of my favorite Sweet songs (and one I posted last year after searching for that US 45 that was imported only to the UK-weird, right). This one is also on Capitol and they do a very faithful version. I saw this in an auction and googled their version and knew I had to have it. I guess the record buying public was not having anything to do with glam in 1976

Vaqueros - Vaquero Beat /Oh So Tenderly

I recorded a few to the computer yesterday but was not as productive as I wanted. This is one I picked up in a lot of 45s about 6 months ago. I never pass on a Kim Fowley involved record

Soul Stirrers- Until Jesus Comes/ Stand By Me

Yesterday did not go as planned. The crazy things that have happened lately with just trying to work on our home is just nuts. But we will overcome!  I recorded 1 45 yesterday and for some reason it did not record. I had to record this one this morning and both sides have the same label but I think the A side is Until Jesus Comes. And the 45's I was expecting yesterday are stuck in stinking Fayetteville North Carolina

The Avengers - Open Your Eyes/ It's Hard To Hide

Another mail order from Jesse and more are scheduled to be delivered today including another monster that I am serving notice will be next Saturday's post!  I was not familiar with this one and I am glad I took a chance on it.  ..between Jesse and Kelly, my mailbox is often full.

Barrett Strong and Rayber Voices - Whirlwind / I'm Gonna Cry

Nice early Tamla. Love those sleeves

May not get to the flea market tomorrow afterall as one of the sellers I always visit told me he may not be there tomorrow. If not, I'm going to do more work around this joint...the end is not in sight!

The Butterflys - Good Night Baby / The Swim

I am going to the flea market on Saturday. I'm planning to meet a friend and take him some records. I won't be out all day as I need to start on the next project which is removing the wallpaper in the bathroom.

Today is the girl group sound I so love. Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich were so prolific...just amazing how fantastic they were. I was digging in one of my boxes a few weeks ago and found a label variation with different fonts and also the arranging/conducting are different on the promo..lol, you know ole OCD me....if only I could only keep one copy of something..
