We had a heavy rain last night but it ended so Cooper and I could get our walk, The storm caused us to lose power and of course that impacted my coffee starting on its own. Nothing a quick push of the button couldn't fix. Thursday girl sounds...A side has a bit of a latin feel to me. This appears to be Wendy's only release.
My feeble attempt at documenting my record collection and music obsession.

Tommy James and the Shondells - Somebody Cares/Do Unto Me
Happy Birthday to Tommy James. I have always been a Tommy James fan. I remember when I was in Jr High I would listen to this station that played oldies and I remember calling and requesting a Tommy James song (Sweet Cherry Wine- which has not made an appearance here so I think you know I will rectify that) and they played it. I was so happy...isn't funny what makes us happy when we are 12 or 13..lol.Today I present a double sided gem that is very underated. This was released after the smash Mony Mony and the A side barely dented the US charts at #53 and hit #40 in Canada. The B side didn't hit the charts and its as good or better than the A side!

Willie Banks & The Messengers - I'm So Tired
The first posting of the bunch of beautiful Peacock 45's I received in the mail last week...this is the newest of the bunch but so good. It was nice to record again yesterday and especially after a trying morning. I spent a fortune on new tires and then they messed up the paperwork and receipt as it didn't even have my name on it...had to express "You took MY money...put MY name on the receipt and paperwork." Then I had to fight the crowd (annual festival with thousands of people milling around) to try to get back home to my driveway.

The Searchers - Sugar And Spice
This post was started a year ago but the recording was flawed. I finally re-recorded it a few weeks ago before Roxio took a dive (which I think I fixed and will know today after I go and purchase new tires for my truck----OUCH!). It did give me time to find the promo copy as I have plenty of my own boxes to dig through if I desire. Since I have probably neglected the invasion of Brits, I probably should record some more in the near future...So, whatch'a whatch'a whatcha' want? Any songs or groups you are interested in? I can definately hit more Stones, or DC5 or Hermits, more Searchers,.Yardbirds anyone...maybe something obscure if I have it.

Eddie Holland - Leaving Here/Brenda
The first time I ever heard Leaving Here was not Eddie's version but the garage version of The Royal Guardsmen (posted on the ole blog). Later I heard the OG from Eddie and was on the search. I finally found a Motown version but it's pretty beat up. Last year while digging in the closed record store inventory I found the reissue and it was a no brainer pick up even though I pretty much stay away from those reissue Collectables 45s. This recording is from the Collectables due to the condition of the OG. Regardless, what a KILLER 45! I expect I will run into a better copy on Motown at some point

The Charades - He's Not Your Boyfriend/Hey Operator
Picked this one up last month when I went to the flea market. I took a chance figuring it was that girl sound I so love and isn't it nice when you are correct!

B-52's - Song For A Future Generation
I nearly started this post out with almost the identical language from my other B-52's upload. How funny but still true. I do find that I am more appreciative of their early pre Love Shack songs and I have been picking up their 45's and picture sleeves. I also remember this video. I plan to include them more in the future.

Afghan Whigs- Debonair
I was recording more 45s Sunday and had a Microsoft update. After the update my Roxio would not record and was crashing and then I had a ton of other computer issues. I figured I would reinstall the program and of course I have no clue where I put the software. Then I could not access my external harddrive with all my pictures and songs...Sometimes nothing works. I guess it is time to search for a newer program for recording songs, but not until I buy a new computer. I figure that will be in the next month or so.
So all that impacted my Monday post. This morning Cooper and I were walking and I was listening to Sirius and a presentation on Gratitude. Wow, perfect timing. Here I was focusing on all the negative doodoo and really, I have so much to be grateful for. After a nice hot shower, relaxing and thinking of how grateful I am for all that I have in my life...I was able to get access back to my external harddrive. Something to be said about positive vibrations.
So I talk about positive vibrations then upload a little aggressive song. I saw the Whigs on this tour..still have my Sub Pop albums- even have a promo cd single of this song but was too lazy to find it. They are touring with Mercury Rev this summer but not close to me which is such a drag...what a show that will be

Soul Seekers Quartet - Over in Glory/When The Morning Comes
I have a whole mess of Peacock 45s on the way in the mail (along with the other 25 45's I bought from Frank) so I can't wait to dig into some new sounds. But first how about this local one. There is a guy just outside Kinston NC that I trade 45's with every few months. We each just fill boxes of 45s and trade...no discussion. This was in a recent trade. I am now on the lookout for Beverly Records.

Wayne Fontana - Pamela Pamela
Record Store Day and I am not in line..nope, no more! It has been years since I went to a RSD store and probably never will again because of a jerk. Last time I went I was 5th in line. The owner was asking each person what they wanted and I was looking forward to the Charles Mingus reissue. He had one. The guy in front of me ends up picking it, turns to me and proceeds to tell me he really didn't want it but knew I did and he would flip it and laughed. He ended up asking the owner for record mailers...so what kind of person does that? It was after that I realized that I only wanted a few things and could probably get them at retail anyway the day afterward...I didn't need to drive anywhere. I didn't need to deal with puckerspots. There are always going to be flippers and guess what...most of them will end up selling it for the price they paid. A few may make the big money but f'em. Plus the prices retail anymore are just ridiculous. I saw the prices for 45's this year and luckily I did not see anything that I was interested in because the cheapest was $15 and it went up to $22...and how about those Rolling Stones mini 45s for $18...REALLY! How many CURE Greatest Hits albums does one person need..I have all their albums so in effect I have their Greatest Hits. RSD has become the Wall Street Corporate Music version of Greed. I whole heartedly support mom and pop stores but unless someone gets a handle on all the greed then we are going to see more go out of business. A well loved Durham store recently announced their closure...more to come people, more to come! Oh wow, I really had not intended on an essay in my disgust..lol. Let's get to what we are here for, shall we.
I have a stock copy somewhere in a box not archived yet. I also have a Graham Gouldman version on RCA..pretty cool pop music to bring me back down to a mellow level

Larry Williams - Shake Your Body GIrl/Love Can't Seem To Find It
I had to pivot a bit this morning. I had recorded some songs last month and of course when I tried to play them this morning the sound was terrible and fading in and out. I am not sure why as I recorded this the same day
