Soul Asylum - Easy Street / One Way Coversation

The street everybody wants but few (deserving) people get. This promo 12" came from my favorite Soul Asylum album, "Soul Asylum And The Horse They Rode In On". I remember at the time it was deemed a massive failure but I couldn't stop playing it. I used to hit all the Denver record stores and remember digging through one bin and boom, a stack of cheap Soul Asylum 12" singles- I snagged them in a heartbeat.

Stiff Little Fingers - Straw Dogs / You Can't Say Crap On The Radio

They are calling for snow this weekend but I will believe it when I see it. We hardly ever get snow these days compared from when I first moved here...I can remember work being closed one year for 4 days due to snow. Since I now work from home there are no such thing as snow days..

I was in a punky mood this morning. I wanted some Clash but it was a no go...guess I will have to tease some Clash later. But the Stiff Little Fingers fit the bill

Bangles - Getting Out Of Hand / Call On Me

I didn't think about preparing any civil rights related upload but I think the title of this one fits what we are witnessing right now. Things are Getting WAY out of hand

Fabulous Gospel Allstars - Travelin On / Heavy Load

This 45 looks like it was used as a frisbee but luckily it plays well. I had a very difficult time getting pictures of the label as it is a dark blue and had to finally hold it up

Shadows Of Knight - Run Run Billy Porter / My Fire Department Needs A Fireman

Here is a non charter and to celebrate I thought I would reload some sounds from 2 Shadows of Knight I uploaded nearly 14 years ago. I scored the Bad Little Woman in an Ebay auction and probably one of my alltime favorites. So, this guy had a bunch of Picture Sleeves in a picture...a terrible picture and I spied the picture sleeve among other common sleeves and I guess I was the only one who recognized it as I scored the lot cheaply.  I picked up I'm Gonna Make You Mine promo in the huge lot of 45s in 2012 that had all the bangers in it (look at the top 25 from the find which included the Third Bardo). I have a stock copy but too lazy to dig it out to take pictures.

The Miracles - Broken Hearted / Mighty Good Loving

Early Miracles 45 and Picture Sleeve on Tamla with a Test Pressing...how cool is that, especially on those cool Tamla sleeves! Broken Hearted made #97 on the charts while Mighty Good Loving did much better at #51.

The Mekons- Empire Of The Senseless

How about a 12" single spotlight.  I don't have a lot of Mekons in my collection but I always loved this one and some of the lyrics seem relevant to what is unveliling before my eyes..

Gary Charlson Shark / Brown Eyes

Powerpop Tuesday. I picked up my first Titan 45 a few years ago and I was hooked. My friend Craig sent me a promo Titan CD put out by Numero group. Fantastic

Jan & Dean - A Surfer's Dream / Fiddle Around

How about a dreamy surf song...The A side (Fiddle Around) was a minor chart hit at #93 and was their last Billboard Top 100 hit. I've included it but not my fav from the duo. This was released after Jan's accident. The dreamy side was co-written by Jill Gibson, Jan's girlfriend. She has a 45 that is on my want list. The stock copy of this arrived last and was a nice upgrade from the beat up copy in my collection..thanks Jesse!

Rev. Ballenger - This Train/ How I Got Over

I won this one in a live auction..I will admit that I had it on silent (wifey..lol) and won it. I was lucky as there are usually a few other bidders that snag the gospel 45's and I probably would have lost out on this one...I mean, how many times do you find an OG Chess gospel 45! It arrived and the A side had a significant flaw. I thought "well, that is what you get when you are not listening to the description." I cleaned it up and it played surprisingly well with some clicks and background noise. What a good deal it ended up being. I love Sister Rosetta Tharpe's version of this

Limey & The Yanks - Out Of Sight, Out of Mind / Gather My Things and Go

I picked the stock copy up from my friend Jim a few years ago and then I believe I picked up the promo from Jesse but I may be wrong on that one. I will say it is an absolute awful band name. Every version of this song I have heard I have loved. I first posted a version in 2011 with the Marauders and guess what kids, I dug it out and repaired the link. Enjoy both!

Dave Clark Five - If Somebody Loves You / Best Day's Work

I had my first absentee day of the year. I really didn't play hookie...I was working on a post, had problems with server and rebooted router and then was distracted by something I had to complete and then completely forgot about it. So I present it today...does fit for Friday's as it is soulful, one of those soulful DC5 songs that was not a hit in the states, or a hit anywhere that I can tell. Those later DC5 songs are difficult to find..especially stock copies

As a bonus, I am reposting #18 on the all time list. I also notice other DC5's from the past are not there so I will find time to fix
