I knocked another one off the want list. Years ago there was a guy selling these periodically on ebay and I constantly missed out. Apparently his father was in the band and he had a small box of them. A few weeks back I was talking to a new acquaintance in South Carolina and he wanted to buy some 45s by a soul group. I dug and found a stack for him and we ended up doing a trade, and I ended up with some Pyramid and JCP's he had dupes of that I did not have (or were upgrades) including this one.
Week is winding down and as it will be cold this weekend so I plan on recording tons of stuff not to mention updating my database with new purchases I have not had time to do- if we don't lose power that is
Another recent pickup. Sounds like we are going to get snow this weekend but here in Eastern NC you can't depend on that weather report until you actually see the white stuff on the ground
I remember first seeing Lloyd Cole And The Commotions on MTV with their early videos. Their 12" singles were among the ones that "were missing" years ago but I have since been able to re-purchase them. I picked up the UK 45 for this a few months ago with the nice gatefold cover. Oh, and the promo 12" single is still sealed. They never found any success here in the states which is a shame. More Lloyd to come
Another cold morning with it being 13 degrees including wind chill. Another morning with hot tea- I love it but I don't want it to replace my coffee consumption. Why not warm up with one of my favorite powerpop songs. This actually hit #37 on the US charts but I don't remember ever hearing it on the radio back in 1979. OCD me has just a few of these- 2 UK, one with the gatefold sleeve. Promo arrived into my collection recently and of course I recorded the long version for this post.
I'm sitting here in slo-motion, drinking hot tea. My stomache was a bit upset yesterday so I thought I would avoid coffee today. The hot beverage is relaxing, as is the pitter patter of rain outside. We had lots of rain and ice this weekend but no snow. Thankful we did not lose power like 20,000 other North Carolinians did.

I like to sometimes put on my headphones and plug this blog on my phone and listen to some of the stuff I have posted. Is that weird? Hey, I love all this music so it's like my own personal jukebox but I wish it would randomly choose and not leave that up to me. As I pick songs to listen to, I realize just how neglectful I have been to quire a few artists. I guess I just have to keep plugging away and trying to even it out. In the meantime you get obscurities like this one. I picked it up in the December buy

The street everybody wants but few (deserving) people get. This promo 12" came from my favorite Soul Asylum album, "Soul Asylum And The Horse They Rode In On". I remember at the time it was deemed a massive failure but I couldn't stop playing it. I used to hit all the Denver record stores and remember digging through one bin and boom, a stack of cheap Soul Asylum 12" singles- I snagged them in a heartbeat.
They are calling for snow this weekend but I will believe it when I see it. We hardly ever get snow these days compared from when I first moved here...I can remember work being closed one year for 4 days due to snow. Since I now work from home there are no such thing as snow days..

This 45 looks like it was used as a frisbee but luckily it plays well. I had a very difficult time getting pictures of the label as it is a dark blue and had to finally hold it up
