For your pleasure tonight is an early 45 by the Uniques, led by future Country Music star Joe Stampley.
My feeble attempt at documenting my record collection and music obsession.

Uniques - You Ain't Tuff
Today was Record Store Day, the national holiday for vinyl enthusiasts (geeks) like myself. I arrived an hour before the doors opened and of course it was raining and cold. I met a couple of nice guys (Daniel and Justine) and shared their umbrella with them. Once inside, I found most of the stuff I wanted but of course the REM box set was long gone. I went to a couple more stores and finally found the Charles Bradley 12". I spent a crap load of $ but isn't that what Record Store Day is about.

Mystics - Snoopy
I picked this up a month ago. From what I can gather, this was a loose cover of the Vibrations My Girl Sloopy and inspired the McCoys after they heard it. Of course the McCoys had the monster version and the Mystics are an obscure footnote

Willie Tee - Walking Up A One Way Street
I'm still fighting this nasty crud and wish I would be just done with it. It sure has affected my motivation to post to this blog consistently. Here is a fantastic classic on promo Atlantic.

Ventures - Telstar
I've been fighting a nasty sinus infection the past 10 days. Seems like I write those words at least a few times a year. The one I'm dealing with now has been particularly nasty and kept me out of work 3 days last week. I'm starting some new medicine tonight so I am hopeful the tide will turn this week. I went to a little record show yesterday (even the misery of my sinus issues could not keep me away). Picked a few interesting things for my collection but most of the prices were over inflated. Here is the b side to the recent Ventures post- again one of those interesting Ventures reissue liberty All Time Hit Series 45's.

Palace Guard- Saturday's Child
Here is one I picked up a few weeks ago. Written by David Gates who would later hit the big time himself in "Bread". I believe Emitt Rhodes was still in the band for this single.

The Festivals - I'll Always Love You
Picked up a few 45's yesterday. Probably play at home and not go anywhere tomorrow...but next week is a different story! Friday Soul Night features a 45 I picked up a few months ago.

Huckleberry Mudflap - Blue Surf
I posted a Huckleberry Mudflap 45 earlier this year and it garnered a lot of views. This was the first one I ever picked up. A fantastic slice of popsike.

Dixie Mountain Boys - Blue Ridge Cabin Home
An obscure Country 45 on Pyramid. These Pyramid 45's out of Charlotte NC are difficult to find no matter what genre

Smokey Robinson and the Miracles - Special Occasion
I've be lax with soul uploads. Another recent pickup, I did not realize how many Miracles songs I just was unaware of...guess I am used to the usual playlist songs and there are plenty of minor hit obscurities such as this song that are tasty.

The Moon - Faces
I hate daylight savings....why move time back ad forth. I really don't mind it when I gain an hour but this losing an hour is awful. I have dragged around all day...must be a mental thing.
I thought I would post another "faces" song with this one being a fantastic slice of popsike..

The Hangmen- Faces
I had a nice productive week in terms of scoring some nice records. I went to Charlotte this week and hit several of my favorite spots and they did not disappoint, Then I runaround today and found a few more nice ones.
Here is one I picked up over the past few months. I'm sure Monument had no clue what to do with this one.

Roadsters - Mag Rims
Here is a Saturday find to make this bad weather we are having today more bearable. I sure can't wait for warm weather.

Giant Sunflower - February Sunshine
Ok, I'm a days off for this one.
I went to a record show in Greenville NC today. It was better than I thought it would be but I still came away with only 14 45's and 2 lp's. Some of the sellers were under the belief they held in their hands many pieces of shiny precious gold but it was really fools gold. I bought all the 45's from a nice gentleman and his wife that were not out to rip anyone off.

Paris - A Change Is Gonna Come
Here is a pick up from a few months ago. Of course it is not as killer as Sam Cooke's version but I don't think I have heard a bad version of this song.

The Atlantics - Bombora
Yesterday was a haze as I had some kind of stomach/24 hour bug and it smashed me. I spent my day today recovering, lying on the couch watching bad TV. I picked up this 45 with 2 other Atlantic's 45s. This is my 2nd Atlantic's post.

Dave Clark Five - Forget
I scanned a bunch of 45's in the computer. I have an excel spreadsheet with my collection in it but sometimes I am amazed at what I have forgotten I have.

Richard Harris - The Yard Went On Forever
I was never a fan of Richard Harris (the singer) or Jimmy Webb's music. That being said, I found this 45 oddly appealing.

13th Power I See A Change Is Gonna Come
Today was my one Saturday a month to work so that means I can play next Saturday....wish I could play all week as well but Daddy has to pay the bills
and also needs $$ to buy minty 45's and picture sleeves like this post

The Dragons - Elephant Stomp
It's Instrumental Monday night. This group featured "Captain" Darryl Dragon (the Captain and Tennille). Thought I would upload this for the poor captain as he is suffering from a neurological condition and Tennille recently filed for divorce after 39 years of marriage.

Lothar & The Hand People - Have Mercy
One of the 45's I bought yesterday had a nasty crack (Zombies)...I am going to have to do a much better job...Luckily it was cheepo but still.
I have always loved promo 45's and have always had questions on why Capitol did not have many Beatle or Beach Boys promos and the ones they did were from 67 and beyond.

The Ceeds - You Won't Do That
It was a cold day at the flea market but I found a few 45's, then went to one of my new favorite places and bought another 20 or so 45's including some nice white label promo soul 45's.
I picked this one up in Colorado in August from someone I met long ago. I went to his house and bought a ton of 45's and this was included. We both had no clue about the origins of this and I found out later that this is a Colorado band from I believe Colorado Springs or Manitou Springs. A very nice find it was.

Elmore James - Make My Dreams Come True
Another recent pickup.. I probably could have cleaned it up a little better. The vinyl actually looks pretty clean, afraid I may need a new needle. .I'm going to hopefully hit the place I found this at tomorrow and maybe I'll find some more goodies

Tonight I have a documentary on Roky Erickson playing. Hmmm....why not post one of his solo 45's from 1977...yeah, a little newer than I usually post but I do like this song

Marke 5 - Pay
The Super Bowl is tomorrow so I went shopping today for the ingredients for my fabulous Green Chili- it's my tradition for the past 20 years. This time tomorrow I will be enjoying smothered burritos.
Tonight's post is another fantastic JCP release but take a lesson from my mistake...This 45 is a perfect example of why it is important to play & inspect any internet 45 purchase. I bought this 6 months ago and stored it away not playing it until recently, when I discovered much to my dismay that there was a crack in the vinyl. At least it still played
