I was driving one day listening to Fresh Air on NPR when they played a retrospective on Reparata and the Delrons. Of course I was blown away by what I heard (especially the RCA singles) and started hunting down them down.

A superlative example of the girl group sound, but, like Cake's brilliant "Baby That's Me," done a few years too late. By 1966 (and '67 for Cake), girl groups -- at least those not emanating from Motown's stable of labels -- were deemed passe.
It had been awhile since I had played the CAKE song and I heard it on the radio last week. hmmmm, will have to get around to that one at some point
