Sister Roestta Tharpe - Silent Night

Can't believe I forgot to post yesterday. I had a special posting. Oh well, maybe I will add it to Christmas Day for a double. This 45 was from my friend Matt. I have an LP from Sister Rosetta Tharpe in my office that is soooo good. I listen to it when I'm having a rough day an my co-workers recognize when the good sister is playing I probably need a an attitude adjustment

Johnny Cash - Little Drummer Boy

I'm sitting here exhausted from a long week. But I am thankful for all the blessings in my life. Take a moment and list 5 good things in your life. Be mindful of the those things and bring them forth when you face what seems as an overwhelming challenge.
The Johnny Cash 45 was from the Radio Station find but I have had the picture sleeve for a few years now. It was nice to match it up finally

Simon and Garfunkel 7 O'Clock News Silent Night

Wow, what a day. I have a nice collection of Christmas albums in my office and I tortured the hall today..ha ha. Here is the song I referenced last night.

Hardly Worthit Players Bobby The Poet - White Christmas

A little Christmas Novelty. I think this also may be a little tongue in cheek response to the Simon & Garfunkel Silent Night. Another Radio station find

Sunday, December 13, 2015

Bobby Darin - Child of God

So I start my traditional upload of Christmas 45's and I really hit the motherload this year. From getting some from my friend Matt, to finding some in a Raleigh record store, and then of course the radio station haul this year gave me tons.to play with. I have way more than the 13 planned.
This 45 and picture sleeve was from my radio station find in August. A nice gospel sounding song from Bobby Darin.

The Barbarians - Moulty

This reportedly has Levon and the Hawks [The Band] backing Moulty

Monday, November 09, 2015

The Ventures -The Swingin Creeper

Ok, this might have been a reach for my Halloween week. I could see this song being the title for some rockin 60's teenage creature feature movie in the Blob vein. Or it could have been the theme title for some 60's or early 70's art soft core movie...he he he

The Rolling Stones - The Lantern

Here is a creepy little Stones song. B Side to a Bill Wyman solo 45. Cool sleeve also

Friday, October 30, 2015

Lee Bowman and the Arrows - Graveyard

Rockabilly Halloween 45 find from the Florence Flea Market last summer

Coven - White Witch of Rose Hall

Here's a heavy Halloween treat

Buck Owens - Monster's Holiday

I remember this song from when I was a young pup. This is a very hard to find Picture Sleeve which I was lucky to score this last year.A bnce promo copy and I found a stock copy of the 45 in all those promo radio station 45s but, I don't know where I put it.

Johnny Fuller - Haunted House

The original version. This was supposed to be last night's post but I forgot

Monday, October 26, 2015

The Contrails - Mummy Walk

Instrumental Monday [when not surf Monday or car Monday] is a little Halloween inspired ditty

Sunday, October 25, 2015

Jive Five - People From Another World

Halloween week. Not a holiday that I celebrate other than in music. I have a nice selection for this week and all of these were picked up over the past year. Why not start the ween week with a song about Aliens. This was the b side to a minor hit for the Jive Five.

The Sandals - Theme From Endless Summer

So I've had a busy week. I left midweek last week for another quick trip to Florida. I managed to hit a few places on the way down and on the way back and it was pathetic pickings. I'm finding that people believe all records are worth a fortune by the prices I saw. $10 for beat up Patti Page 45's was normal. But I guess I did not need any more records anyway.

JR. Walker & The All Stars - Do You See My Love

I seem to have uploaded a bit more doo wop songs lately but not tonight. How about some nice soul music on cool promo red vinyl. Love that signature Saxophone sound

I am so glad the weekend is looming....this has been a busy week at work.. Another Radio Station pick up

A Radio Station find and a fitting song for what the weather is like here

Sunday, October 04, 2015

the Shirelles - I Met Him On A Sunday

Radio station find. Two different copies with different labels and release numbers

Saturday, October 03, 2015

Don & The Goodtimes - I Hate To Hate You

A punkier poppy side of Don &The Goodtimes...much better than the Epic 45's. This has a west coast sunshine sound to me

Friday, October 02, 2015

Major Lance - Monkey Time

The Monkey is about to get on Noah's ARK here in Eastern North Carolina. I hope it does not rain for 40 days and 40 nights.

Johnny Cash Loading Coal

There is just not enough time. I have had plans to play with this blog but too many things in the fire. For instance, I went to the Yo La Tengo concert in Durham last night which of course is a drive so I was unable to upload anything.. I had a good time but I wish they would have played a little longer. There were some songs I wanted them to play. I was glad Dave Schramm was with them and he is such an amazing guitar player. If you have never heard his band The Schramms you must buy buy buy tehm all...can probably pick them up cheap as nobody ever bought them- well I did but poor ole Dave didn't make any money off me. Here is a 45 found in the radio station find- can't believe this is my first Johnny Cash upload

Johnny Zamot - Johnny's Boogaloo

I had a pretty darn good calm non stressful day at work. On the way home I bounced around and listened to a little bit of everything. On one of the stations they were playing "Superstar" from the Carpenters. I forgot what a good song that was [check out Sonic Youth's version]. It brought back a good memory that I had not thought of in years. I was in elementary school [4th grade] and our school had a P.A. system and they would choose two kids to play music over the P.A. I remember how damn excited I was to be chosen once. So the day I was to play music I was paired up with a girl who was a year older..cute little thing with freckles that I was smitten with. So we had a stack of albums and the only one I remember was "The Singles" and I remember it because of the brown cover and the song "Superstar". I remember looking at her and thinking of the words "Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby. You Said You'd be coming back this way oh baby. baby baby baby baby oh baby, I love you, I really do". Ah, young love

Sam & Dave - Soul Sister, Brown Sugar

Time to mix it up a bit and get funky. And yes, this is from the Radio Station find.
To all new to my blog or to the long time followers, Let me know if there are any old posts you want to have re-posted due to the Divishare issue.

Jan Berry - Tinsel Town

A Jan Berry post accident solo 45 from 1974. It was destined to go nowhere but it shows he still had that Jan & Dean magic in him.  Look at the unique "artist" title of 1 Jan 1. I picked this up from Matt in Maryland...thanks Matt!

Buck Owens - Down On The Corner Of Love

I burned up the highway with a quick road trip to Florida this week to deal with family - left Wednesday and returned Friday. I still managed to make a few pit stops for a brief "stretch the legs look for records" but it was pathetic pickings. But I really don't need anything else right now considering I am still going through the boxes of 45's I bought. Tonight's offering is another from the Radio Station find. There are more country 45's in the bunch than I would like but this IS one that I like. Early Buck [1956] but this is a reissue from 1960 I believe

Soul Stirrers - Until Jesus Calls Me Home

What a busy day. Diggin through the radio station find today and found a few cool 45's like tonight's post. Sam Cooke had the perfect voice for spiritual songs. Look, another "B" side

Saturday, August 29, 2015

The Seeds - Try To Understand

B side gem..turn those A sides over

Dee Dee Warwick - Yours Until Tomorrow

Friday night soul. I have so much cool 45's I have picked up the last few months but have had limited chance to scan and record them. That is not a bad thing as I have plenty of stuff scanned and recorded and I will get to the new stuff. This is one of those 45's I picked up earlier in the year. A killer Goffen and King song, I have always loved any version of this song. I have a version by Baby Ray that kills...I can't believe I have not uploaded that on...hmmm, another on the list of things to do. So it seems Open Drive has made some changes and I can't make an audio player. So I played around with watching a youtube video on embedding an audio player. Seems to work just fine.

Chuck Berry - Come On

My favorite Chuck Berry song. I have looked for this for quite a while and found it in Maryland thanks to my new record collector friend. I love it when that elusive item comes your way..

Dixie Humming Birds - I'll Keep On Living After I Die

Yes, I have been off the blog for a bit. But I have had a busy few weeks. First, I went at the start of the month to see my friend in Maryland for a few days. Had a great time and in the process made a new record collector friend. I managed to score some nice 45's from him, of which tonight's post is one of them [although the 45 is somewhat rough condition]. I have some fantastic Peacock 45's but had never seen any on red vinyl and I picked up 2. Perfect gospel.

As I was driving home from Maryland I was thinking how I have way too many records and need to start selling them to free up space but then what do I do, I go and buy  about 12,000 45s earlier this week. I won't go into the whole story here but I they were from an unpicked find- yes unpicked. There are bit more Country 45's than I would have liked [probably at least half of the find] but the rest were 60's [with some 70's] rock and soul and most are promos. Found some items I have looked for awhile for, although I have not had the opportunity to go through all the boxes and boxes and boxes. I figure to set up a website at some point to start trying to sell stuff I don't want. Stay tuned.

Youngbloods - Tears Are Falling

This was my favorite song from the Youngbloods
