The acquistion of this one has an interesting story. So, I originally bought it on whatnot in August 2023 but the seller (who thinks he is so cute using the image of a famous deceased DJ's and calls himself the W***man) refunded the purchase right afterwards with this bulljunk that it was cracked. I had the 45 and wanted the PS but he dissed me and would not honor the sale. Fastforward a few months later and he posts it on the book of faces --total DBag with a capitol D...(ok, guess I need to let my anger go). Anyway, another seller ended up posting this copy and I won it. Probably more Halloween due to it being the Lurch

The Fall - There's A Ghost In My House

Another recent arrival. I have found either people like the Fall or don't like the Fall...there is no inbetween.

So this weekend I was supposed to take my wife to town but then she did not feel well. Since I needed to go to the pharmacy I went ahead but had no other destinations in mind. I ended up going to a friends house and while there another friend was there and told me of a sale out of a storage unit. This guy used to run a flea market and what records he used to have was pretty junky. I ended up going and he had tons of records in his unit and OMG ...boxes and boxes of records with all 45s and albums a quarter a piece. It was full of amazing rock and soul 60's 45s and promos. I ended up spending $100 and and I am still going through them but some amazing things. While digging my wife called and asked where I was...I told her "looking at 45's" and she said, "Oh course you are"...as Yoda would have said, "in the doghouse briefly you are".

The Duponts- Screamin Ball (At Dracula Hall)

I am in slow motion this morning. I stayed up to 2am to watch the Colorado Buffaloes become bowl eligible for the first time since 2016. Cooper had no walk this morning as my neck is killing me so I took a long hot shower. I'm drinking my coffee and just found my Tens unit needs recharging so I will have to wait a little while for that. I will wait to write about yesterday's crate digging that resulted in an unexpected haul of amazing 45s.

Blue Oyster Cult - Godzilla

I am counting this as Halloween after all Godzilla was a monsterr. I loved it on Saturday mornings as a kid when I could find Godzilla movies on the tube. How hoky those movies are now. The attempts to restart the franchise have fallen way short in my opionion and are unwatchable. It's a shame as Godzilla is a legend. I picked up this rarity last year..what a cool sleeve!

Gene "Bowlegs" Miller - Frankenstein Walk

Halloween for the next week and I have some good ones ready to go. We have ghouls, ghosts, monsters, Drac, zombies and phantoms...and of course Frankenstein...oh my.. I picked this up at a yardsale last year. It was summer and extremely hot and the people left the box of 45s in the sun. There were tons of really warped 45s but somehow luckily this was at the bottom of the box and safe from the heat

Indiscreet - American Nightmare / Black And White

What a wonderful morning to walk Cooper. We even sat on benches near the library just to enjoy the mild weather...well, I sat on the benches...Cooper was a bit impatient with me...let's go go go go, what is this sitting stuff!. But I am thankful for the mild weather since our heating unit took a dive. Our new heating/air unit was installed yesterday so we are ready for the cool weather that will no doubt be striking. 

Halloween week on the blog starts tomorrow and I really did come up with a good mix of things. But I'm getting a headstart with this powerpop 45. I picked it up a few weeks ago. It also appears to be autographed. It also appears to be their only release. That is a shame!

Airplay - Mystery Woman / This Love of Mine

 I am suprised sometimes how many views I get for posts. I figured the weird test pressing from yesterday would get more views than it did. I prepared some Halloween posts for next week and did I find some good ones. Several were purchased last year but I just did not get them uploaded last Halloween. This year I found I recorded way too many Halloween songs so I may do a preview later this week. Who wants to wait another year for some of this stuff...I sure don't. Of course that means I may need to get in gear for next year but I will take on that challenge. 

Today's post is this pricey little modern funk soul 45 from nearly my backyard as Wilson is only about 40 miles away. This one also appears to be autographed.

Bill Oddie – Nothing Better To Do / Traffic Island

This one took me awhile to figure out. I am categorizing this as a test pressing or it could be a very early promo..it is obviously not a stock copy with removed labels.  The labels have a faint backwards type that identified The Defenders Island of Love on Parkway..which it clearly is not. I tried shazam and nothing. So how did I figure it out...I have another 45 I picked up with this one that had the same labels but a different Parkway release that it was not.  I did shazam for that one and it turned out to be Cherry from the Velvet Satins which I confirmed. Since both runouts had G/A I looked at the discography and there was good ole Bill. Discogs shows that Traffic Island was the A side. I pulled out the ole sleeve tub as I knew I had a General American sleeve. How cool is that!

Spiritualized- So Long You Pretty Thing

 I have a pile of gospel 45s to record but I did not get to them yesterday. I did not run around that much yesterday but did have to cut some tree branches and that took time away from play time. But I do have this album cut that fits so it is deep album Sunday morning. I love me some Spiritualized. I purchased this brand new and was it really in 2012?...wow, time does fly. There is something so hypnotic and wonderful and this is one of my favorites. My wife does not like Spiritualized and I don't understand that. My friend Craig turned me on to Spaceman 3 and Spiritualized back in the day...I guess I did not initially appreciate Spiritualized then as I do now. 

The Jason Garfield -A Picture Of Lilli / Where Did I Lose My Way

 I found a spot a week ago Friday and picked up some pretty cool 45s. I plan on going back today. I have feeling that they have more they have not put out. Hoping for good results

Mister "T" Saving My Love For You

The heating/air unit is toast. The tech opened it up and the was a rusted hole in the heat exchanger.....we purchased it 11/5/2002 so it gave us nearly 22 years of service. Glad it happened now and not in December...but oh this is not an expense I wanted. I pity the fool who likes to sleep with it 50 degrees in the house (did you like that reference to Mr. T...although this is a different Mr. T.)

Debbie Dean - Don't Let Him Shop Around / A New Girl

 The cold has returned. I turned on our thermostat Tuesday night and we were nice and toasty. Last night, nothing...Our unit is 22+ years old..If it is an expensive fix looks like it is time for a new unit. I don't really need to shop around...we have a dependable company that has serviced our units for the last 30 years.

Rodriquez - Sugar Man/Jane's Pity

Wednesday album spotlight- a clear cut banger (and oh how that term is so overused but I think I can can qualify this release as one!) A few years ago my wife and I were watching some movie or TV show and Jane's pity was featured. I loved the song and found it was on this LP. I looked up the LP and was like, "holy crap"...it is pricey and out of my budget. A few weeks after that I was going through the tubs of LP's I bought at that auction and look what I find...amazing! I had the thing for at least a year with no clue.
