This is exactly what I did recently. I flew into Denver as Mom was having a medical procedure. I had checked out the weather a few days before and it was supposed to be nice. Of course unpredictable Colorado weather came into play as I flew into Denver International in a snow storm. I had planned on hitting record stores on the way out of town but the car rental lady told me Colorado Springs was supposed to get 8 inches of snow. So I slowly made my way to moms- a usually 2 hour drive but not this day. The roads were horrible with Amazon and Walmart semi trucks stuck in the middle of the highway. But I made it to the Springs and hit a few record stores there. Over that week I saw friends and family, took care of Mom, played with the grandkids and hit some more record shops. I also found out that my favorite record store in Colorado Springs closed. It seems each time I go home I find great record stores I loved when I lived in Denver have closed. The places I used to go get 45's are no longer there. One place told me that his dad had started the store and liked 45's but now that he runs the store he has gotten rid of them as not many people shop for them. I know that alot of record collectors hate 45s but quite frustrating to those of us who know. But I did find a few new ones in Colorado Springs that had some KILLER items that I had to mail home. The day I left for Denver was another damn snow storm and the Springs was awful but it was better once I got to Denver. Hit the usualy shops (Wax Trax, Twist and Shout, Black & Read) and found more killer stuff that I am having my son mail to me.
I saw Bob Seger live in Denver when I was an undergraduate at Colorado State University. The concert was at the old McNichols Arena which is where the Denver Nuggets played. We were in the nosebleed section then after the concert we drove back to Ft. Collins and decided to climb Horsehoe Rock. We climbed to the top then back down. I had just enough time to shower before going to work. These days if I stay awake to watch a late night football game (damn East Coast Time) I am completely worthless the next day. After I graduated with my undergraduate, I moved to a suburb of Denver. I eventually did Get Out Of Denver permanately- moving to North Carolina in October 1994
