Johnny Rivers - If You Want It, I've Got It/My Heart Is In Your Hands

Today's post is one you don't see often- the A side is a Johnny Cash sounding song and a bluesy R&B song on the B side. Johnny started out in the late 50's on a variety of labels. Capitol had no luck with breaking him and it wasn't until Imperial got their hands on him did he have some success. Oldies stations always played some Johnny Rivers- he was all over the radio. I was on vacation a few weeks back and while we were listening to Sirius they played an obscure 1970's song of his I didn't recognize and I"m like, "I bet I have that in a box somewhere as I have a ton of his 45's."

So my question is, why has he not been recognized by the RNR Hall of Shame? You may ask what brings him to that level and I would argue his hit production with some absolute classics and also the fact that he was influential with breaking new artists to the masses. They really need to re-look at all these aging 1960's artists that are deserving and induct them while they are still alive. It seems like the HOS is only interested in bringing artists from over the past 25 years or so. I'm not saying they are not deserving but you are stepping on the giants that helped shape music we hear today
