Here is another cool one that I picked up in the big buy in April. I guess What Will the New Day Bring is the A side but is featured 2nd on the sleeve in a highlighted color. I recorded it in the order of the sleeve and to me both sides were great so if I was wrong it does not matter I guess.

Friday Soul with The Knight Brothers. Picked this up in the buy a few weeks ago. Vinyl has lots of scuffs and scratches but is still a brilliant slice of 60's soul heaven.

I love digging in the boxes and pulling out gems. First off you have the killer label. When I am crate digging I will always pick up things that look like this whether I know anything about it or not. A label like this dares me to take a listen. Then cleaning it up and popping it on the turntable and in this case you get a fantastic doo wop song. Killer labels don't always mean a home run but in this case it does in my opinion. A friend told me this weekend that I am a rarity with the wide variety of music styles I love. That may or may not be true. I try not to be an elitest or know it all. I also try to respect the tastes of others but that is not always easy. I have another friend who is so focused on classic rock and heavy metal that he ignores brilliant records. He recently gave me 100's of classic R&B and oldies lp's becuase they just were not something he was interested in. How could you not want to listen to an original copy of the Cricket's first album! I do find it difficult when people are so focused on what they like that they ignore brilliant pieces of work all around them. Oh my, I think I need more coffee as that was too heavy a rant for a Tuesday Morning..
Monday Surf not listed in in my John Blair Discography of Surf Music 2nd edition. I am not sure if it is in any later editions and I wish he would put out an updated 5th edition.
Recently I was buying some records in an online auction. The person had this 45 but told me it was trashed and would not sell it and was going to throw it away. I asked them to toss it in my package and they obliged. It is pretty beat up but after a good scrubbing (including the HumminGuru), I thought it played rather nicely considering the scuffs and scratches. How many times do you get a huge rarity for free

I was an undergraduate when I first heard Kate Bush. I had some people I hung out with that had everything she recorded and were fanatics. I became a fan as well. I was really happy she gained long overdue attention. I bought the 12" of this at a Denver Record Show a million years ago and the guy must have had a stack of 20...wish I would have bought them all

Wednesday Album Deep Cut or Deep Extended Play cut. Let's get a bit weird shall we. We used to have to drive to Florida due to my Mother In Law's place...glad we don't have to do that anymore
I was distracted this morning and almost forgot my morning routine. I have seen so many of these you would have thougth it was a huge hit--and it was not.
I picked a copy of this up recently only to realize I already had a copy.I tend to grab 45s when it has surf in the title and then sort it out later. I think every label got into the surf craze..definately an odd one for this label
Rewind to yesterday morning. I had just finished making my blog post and my friend calls me. He is at a yardsale behind his house and the people have about 2 thousand 45s. I jumped in the Chevy and drove to the levy..(oops, wrong song)..er, drove to town...30 minutes of hoping the 45s were still there and not gone. I get there and they take me to the room where there are tubs in the closet full of 45s. I start looking through the 1st tub and pull out about 20..there are also some 78's and they are doowop 78s. I ask the lady...how much for all of them without looking the rest as it was obvious they did not want me to just buy a handful. We strike a deal and I load them into the truck. I get home and get me a sorter box...you know what I am talking about...pulling things that look interesting. I think I pulled 400 into that box...some were not in very good condition but there was some dynamite things in there...I am happy with the good deal. I plan on recording some today after I clean them with my new ultrasonic cleaner.
Last Saturday was low key with no crate digging. I plan to go to a local estate sale today but other than that another low key Saturday...trust me, I have plenty of 45's and albums to clean with my new new machine.
We had a heck of a storm last night and lost power for about 2 hours starting at 8pm. It is amazing how warm it becomes without the modern comfort of air conditioning..
